‪Far above lies a world of majesty, beauty and splendor, a world where wilderness untamed, pristine and pure, reigns supreme, and reminds us of nature's infinite power. Patagonia, Chile.

Orion Nebula (M42) acquired January 29th, 2025.

Orion is Earth's closest massive star-forming region, a stellar nursery located about 1,300-1,500 light-years away.

This was taken over a couple of hours from my front yard in Calgary AB Canada. Seestar S50 is impressive.

Milkyway nightscape image of Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta Canada.

This is the blend of 10 images of the night sky and a long exposure image of the lake and mountains. All were taken July 24, 2025. The jagged mountains in the background are in Glacier Park.

Errata....This is Peyto Lake.

The blurb about the Palliser Expedition is correct though.
Hector Lake, Banff NP.

For those who don't know Canada, the Palliser Expedition was the first scientific survey of the region between Lake Superior and the Rockies in British North America. It was akin to the Lewis and Clark survey but without the military

Castle is the easternmost mountain of the Main Ranges in the Bow Valley and sits astride the Castle Mountain Fault. It was named in 1858 by James Hector for its castellated shape.

Perhaps a bit late but, I'd like to share some of my photos from visiting Sachsenhausen . This wasn't a "death camp" - those were outside of Germany so that citizens didn't directly see the horrors. This camp was where they perfected their methods. History does rhyme. #neveragain #holocaust #ICE

I made a promise to Alex’s parents to continue to tell his story.

An ICU nurse at the VA, an outdoorsman, a deeply generous, compassionate friend and family member, and a true son of Minnesota. Rest in peace, Alex.

More and more Americans are voicing their outrage at the tactics being deployed by federal agents in Minnesota. But it’s important to understand the broader implications of what this administration is doing, and the threat it poses to the basic freedoms of every American.

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

The Waxing Gibbous Moon.

I took this yesterday at about 2pm - It is a stack of many images taken over 1 minute. The moon takes on a different character when photographed in the daylight. Still entrancing.
