The detail of the roman legions sacking Jerusalem and carting off precious Jewish treasure is especially poignant.

Other than a new plane, what will the Trump Family get for their sacking of the Middle East?

The Arch of Titus has wonderful carvings and bas reliefs. The workmanship has survived for millennia.

The Arch of Titus is located in the Roman Forum. The arch was commissioned by the Roman Senate to commemorate the Roman victory during the siege of Jerusalem.

Titus got this for winning one war...What does one get for stopping 8?

In homage to the #NoKings protests and the revelation that Trump is now planning his own Triumphal Arch for the successful ending of 8 !! Wars, Here are a few triumphal arches from history.

And then you remember that this wonderful palace was stolen from its earlier owner by a fat tyrant who ruled with an iron fist and who robbed from the treasury to enrich himself and his family.

History doesn't repeat itself but it certainly does rhyme.

Look above you and you see art. But, only rarely do you see such art festooned with garish gold. This was done to make you feel small and insignificant. Make sure you know your place while you waited for an audience.
The Palace has wonderful sights to be seen and explored. There's art everywhere. Wonderful hallways and fine finishings.
Hampton Court Palace, Greater London, UK.

I've been to Hampton Court Palace a few times. As a Canadian, I'm fascinated by the preservation and integration of such old buildings.

Spectacular concentric zoning and twinning of large titanaugite in essexite (nepheline monzogabbro) from Lennoxtown, Scotland. Plagioclase inclusions within the phenocryst align with zoning just as proximal groundmass plagioclase align with its edge. #ThinSectionThursday 🧪⚒️
In the end...we were rewarded. Perseverance and trust in the science - it helped that we had multiple forecasts all saying the same thing.

Do you ever trust the weather forecast?

This video was of the time leading up to photograph the Milky Way in Banff Aug 2025. The weather forecast was for clear skies. I admit...I was skeptical

When I moved my camera to face north we got a bright and beautiful Aurora. But it was brief...only lasting a few minutes.

Southeastern Alberta, Canada.

Back in August 2024, I was busy looking south taking photos of the Milky Way but I kept getting a red cast on my photos, washing out the stars.

Southeastern Alberta, Canada.

Milky Way over Red Rock Coulee, Southern Alberta, August 4th, 2024. The red rocks are cemented siderite concretions in shale and remain as large boulders when the soft shale is eroded.

Back in August, when I was busy taking photos of the Milky Way in Banff we were surprised by a brief appearance of Aurora in the North near the Big Dipper
