Brilliant, they’ll be directed to Nazi and manosphere content even *faster* without accounts. Just excellent. Exactly what we need.

Senators and even eSafety seem to be unaware you can already use TikTok logged out. 🫠https://www.theguardian.com/media/2025/sep/22/under-16s-may-still-see-gambling-violent-far-right-content-under-australia-social-media-ban-simply-by-not-logging-in-zero-neo-nazis
From zero to neo-Nazis: what under-16s may see under Australia’s social media ban, simply by not logging in
Guardian Australia test finds scrolling shortform videos while logged out of YouTube and TikTok quickly leads to gambling, violent and far-right content

omg I just realised that the ATO gives rich people more $ for claiming travel expenses.

Apparently as a taxpayer my tastebuds are too povvo, so I have to subsidise rich people claiming more for breakfast.

Also I guess I don't deserve a nice bed when travelling for work either.

Shocked. SHOCKED I tell you.

A poll question that starts with “Some have suggested”? Seriously? Horrific push polling.

Immigration numbers
Q: Some have suggested that Australia's current net migration of 316,000 and permanent intake of 185,000 per year is too high, and that the Coalition should reduce immigration numbers significantly. Would you support or oppose a significant reduction in Australia's immigration numbers?

My point is that the data is framed in *opposition* to agriculture. And regardless of your or my views about the role of agriculture, Australians have a cultural view/predispositions about agriculture.
jbau.bsky.social
People are influenced by emotional context though. They won’t view the data rationally - they’ll view it through the lens of their exisiting emotional and social context.

Using a rational point/data to try and “fix” an irrational emotional/social ignores what’s driving their beliefs.

You’ve never been known to do things by half pounds have you 👀
jbau.bsky.social
I know what this is *trying* to do - but presenting it as a binary competition and oppositional with the agriculture sector is politically stupid and doesn’t help foster social license. Graphs and facts and numbers overwhelm people.

🌞Total land required to replace coal fired energy
🌞Example assumes all solar:120,000 hectares
🌞 That’s less than 0.016 percent of Australia’s total land currently used for agriculture
🌞 Australian agriculture currently accounts for 58% of our land use
🌞And agrisolar = panels + grass/sheep etc

Seriously though, supposedly “smart” people turning everything into an acronym or contraction to “make things easier” actually does make everything harder. Significantly harder. Just use normal words. Don’t make the public remember more things.

I think we really should stop using antifa and just fully say anti-fascist and get them saying they are against anti fascism. Using antifa is giving them some distance and I genuinely think some of their base don’t even know that’s what it stands for.

It’s scary how willing people are to back rapist freaks because they hold some similar worldviews to theirs.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

People on welfare don’t have savings, because we don’t let them. You have to draw down on any savings before you are eligible for welfare and then you are paid below the poverty line, so every dollar is already spent before you get it says @amyremeikis.bsky.social

"Which again, brings us back to the question: If $400 was all the money you could count on every week and it didn’t get paid, how do you think that would impact your life? How well do you think you could cope?"

We went to spectate the Melbourne marathon out the front of our place and got stuck between two lanes of runners 😅

These billionaires are like human ChatGPTs. They take in a wealth of information and spit out a bunch of words that sound like they understood it all, but fall apart once you apply any scrutiny or logic. They’re insane www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Oh and then whether the thing you’re plugging into can handle any of that is completely different again.

Is any of those consistently labeled or flagged in any way?

The number of friends, family and colleagues I’ve had to troubleshoot this stuff for is insane.

It still enrages me how badly the tech industry screwed up USB C.

So you sell cables that can fast charge…but shitty data speeds.

And then ones that have good data speed but can’t fast charge.

Your product marketing sometimes tells you the actual stats of the cables sometimes not.

It actually did! Huge difference. They did a sleep test before and after and were shocked - I lost access to a follow up clinical trial because the surgery was too successful.

My advice for comms peeps: do NOT embed any one of these tools as an essential part of your workflow auscommsguide.com/2025/10/09/c...
These companies aren't making profit - and they're not projected to for a long time. The hype is not materialising into profit.
What happens when they crash? What happens to the pricing of the companies and the tools that are left behind?
Will the tool I rely on today double in price next month? Will it exist next year?
