Reconciling Rage with Hope

I struggled with which word to put first. Hope is fleeting. It takes work to maintain. Rage lingers; it sticks with you, ceaselessly demanding attention. /1
It’s only February, folks. Save that predatory blood-in-the-water energy for canvassing for Congressional races this summer.

Get in friends, we’re not getting tired of winning all year. From right now until we get our popcorn out with Speaker Jeffries next January. Crack knuckles. Sharpen blades.
WELL WELL FUCKIN WELL
(AXIOS) - President Trump has become so politically toxic that voters now say Joe Biden — whose unpopularity forced him into early retirement — did a better job as president, according to three new polls.

Dude. People who shit on Hakeem Jeffries never watch his near daily press conferences. Guaranteed. They’re ignorant or they are straight up liars.

Jeffries brought the fire today. You can always watch on CSPAN. For free.

It seems like they are genuinely concerned about the political backlash from Republican and independent voters. I don’t think this will help, though.
Better than the alternative. Also not sure why they would announce this if they weren’t going to actually do it.

The gaslighting that makes me the angriest is where the antizionists still count thousands of dead hamas rapists in their casualty figures they throw in every jew's faces--and then grasp their pearls when you call them pro-hamas

Hi! I’m a PhD in institutional ethics. I study how leaders of US institutions collaborated with Nazi Germany.
There was a variety of reasons: ideological agreement, amoral profit motive, and FOMO.

They all lost money, property, & had reputational damage. Later, none thought they made a good choice.
Historians will say that all these institutions were debased by Trump through threats and intimidation. This will be a fucking lie. They all debased themselves. Trump's threats were always empty paper tiger crap. They capitulated because they were either cowardly idiots or secretly on his side.

Populism is bad. On the left and the right. Bluesky has a significant leftwing populism problem.

Populism suppresses critical thinking. We can see this in action. This makes it bad for science.

And populism can destroy democracies by rotting the brains of its citizens.

In Baltimore, a leftwing populist bookstore held an anti-voting event TWO DAYS before the last US midterms in 2022.

They are one of the more influential (allegedly) leftwing orgs in the whole city.
the thing that gets me about the antivoting leftists is that they don't just want to not vote. they want to not vote and have all the rest of us admit how cool and good it is. a participation trophy for laziness

Write this on your walls. Hang it on your gates.
It's Midterms Season--get in, we're here to win.
I’ve concluded that “both sides” arguments always implicitly mean “I’m better than everyone else”

It’s an expression of self-validation, not sober analysis

And now the regular Democratic leadership conference (literally happening right now, see CSPAN) is inserting Epstein into everything! They are calling for Lutnick to resign.

They know this a winning strategy.
Virginia's law is not just the right thing to do, it's BRILLIANT politics on behalf of Democratic leadership.

Want to prosecute this whole fascist movement at once? Pass this law. We know now how closely it's tied to Epstein. Want to force Republicans to own all of this? Force them to face a vote.

Populists do this all the time. Honestly most of what is leftwing for them is branding.

Performing solidarity is just for demanding authority by weaponizing grievance.

They do this by constantly exploiting marginalized groups. This behavior is deeply ingrained. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.
Also, inventing fake bigotry to win interpersonal feuds feels pretty disrespectful to people facing real bigotry, and even to the idea that real bigotry matters.

Me, to my wife: I wish we need not have had the whole troop’s Girl Scout cookies at our house.

My wife: So do I, and so do all who live to see such cookies. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the cookies that are given us.

Either you think there was a reason great enough to risk putting child raping fascists into power or you don’t.

Spare me the exploitative rhetoric.

Today is a moment of clarity with Trump's racism. What does Bluesky do? It yells at Hakeem Jeffries.

Guys, a lot of you don't understand what being leftwing or progressive is.

You use these words, but the meaning has not penetrated.
At all.

Solidarity means rejecting racism, not parroting it.
