Seeing these Portland counter protests reminded me of this and I think it works for the same reason our counter protest works. Once you make them look silly, they really have no way to regain their original posture.

They wanted us so badly to get in their face and yell at them so they could calmly quote scripture back at us and make us look crazy. Instead we stood on the opposite corner and mimicked their behavior. They gave up and left hours before their protest was scheduled to end.

Their big thing was the phrase “god hates fags.” That was even the url for their church. So we decided to make a bunch of signs that said “god hates plaque” and we had a counter protest for dental hygiene and blamed societies ills on people failing to brush their teeth.

Story time. Back when I was in college, the Westboro Baptist Church was a thing. They’d go around having obnoxious protests where they’d blame everything on societies acceptance of gay people. They would protest at veterans funerals and college campuses alike. Well one year they came to my college.

I loved Pablo’s clear implication that there will be more folders down the line. If Cuban wanted to say he’s not convinced 100% beyond a reasonable doubt, sure. But to be as sure as he is that’ll other way is insane. I’m also sure if Pablo tugs at the nonprofit angle there will be more shoes to drop

My read on MTG is that she’s out there and has abhorrent beliefs but they are sincere as compared to the majority of her colleagues who are position taking as convenient. I think she is genuinely shocked to realize they are not fellow travelers.

Agree, with that last point particularly. The main constituency I know for the 2SS are liberal American Jews who have not thought too deeply about it but don't like the status quo and also believe it is important to have a Jewish state.
