Considering what the future looked like at this time last year - yeah, it was quite a year. I appreciate a lot of what was accomplished over the previous 10 years, but a leadership change proved to be just the ticket they needed.

Of course, it didn’t hurt that the CPC leader is a dick.

To illustrate the incredible upheaval that federal politics has experienced over the last 12 months, one could do worse than to simply look at the last two Liberal caucus Christmas parties.

Dumb and Dumber in Puerto Montt Chile while on a backpacking tour of South America - it was called Lo Stupido y Lo Mas Stupido
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

A beautiful moment in a terrible story.

Mark Carney's grand bargain with Alberta wasn't popular with climate activists, but it's a much different story with the broader public.

Why it's part of his push to return the Liberals to their former position on the political spectrum. #cdnpoli www.nationalobserver.com/2025/12/12/o...
Mark Carney's grand bargain is more popular than you think
So far, the deal with Alberta hasn't cost the Liberal Party of Canada much support in the polls. Has the prime minister actually read the public mood correctly?

Tonight Stekkjastaur, the first of Iceland's 13 Yule Lads, comes down from the mountains. He likes to sneak into the sheep shed to drink milk from the ewes.

All the children put a shoe in the window for him to put a treat or a little gift in – if they have been good! The bad children get a potato.

someone at VIA thought that this is an acceptable outcome. This country needs massive investment in its passenger rail capacity.
Via Rail’s quality of service is far, far below international standards – Canadians need to stop normalizing this:

I can tell you why -- or at least, in part. Because people have normalized going to school and daycare and work sick. They're not taking precautions. Clean air? No. Masking? No. Vaccination? No.
