The extreme attack on transgender youth we are witnessing from a governmental stage was enabled by The Atlantic and The New York Times.

Congratulations, those of you who decided to platform fringe voices and create a climate of fear and hate out of ignorance because those voices insisted a non-problem was a problem. They're now on an HHS stage trying to ruin children's lives. You will live with the harm you have done forever.

Please call both senators today and leave messages saying you need them to fight for gender affirming care for youth, and for all trans people

It doesn't take a lot of calls for them to feel swamped / pressured / that people care about an issue

I know in 2025 it’s still high fashion for elites to react with impunity to literally any pushback but I don’t think the runway to do so lasts forever is the thing

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

Crazy how Trump is flailing, Epstein files are coming out, the economy is going to shit, and Republicans are defecting and the first thing his admin does is pivot to attacking trans people. It's all they know. Just distract everyone from what's important by attacking a vulnerable minority group.

Cis people really have no idea how it feels to watch a regime hold a press conference to admit, on camera, the pogrom against trans people they've been waging for 11 months is not only real, but they're going to double down on genocide and try to wipe out all the children first.

Notice how Trump and Republicans were having the worst couple weeks in the administration's history and they decided to pivot to hardcore attacking trans people?

David Brooks, who wrote in the NYT last month, "The Epstein Story? Count Me Out" is... in the latest Epstein photo dump published by @oversightdemocrats.house.gov.

He should absolutely be fired by NYT for this. Major conflict of interest that he didn't disclose.

the headline doesn't describe the point of this piece - it's such a great contrast to that compact article in that the author hit a career wall, got bitter, and then changed his life for the better instead of lashing out at the world and all of "those people" taking what he felt was rightfully his
I Wrote ‘Dude, Where’s My Car’ 25 Years Ago. It Would Never Be Made Today.
In 2000, the author was a young screenwriter writing broad, crude humor to sell into a marketplace that valued it. Then offers dried up. Today, he's quit Hollywood to become a therapist.

"25 years later, some of the comedy feels so dated, even offensive...plenty of humor that plays at the expense of transgender people, ethnic minorities, women, gay men...Did it feel this cringey 25 years ago?...The humor seemed appropriate at the time. But then again, so did Matchbox Twenty."

only about 1/3 of that sarah mcbride speech is actually good, the part in which she actually defends trans kids, versus the first 2/3s on the ACA + giving leeway to the bigots

just
defend

Over covid one of our engineers was radicalised. Next time we saw him he was watching Tim Pool videos in office and telling us about "cultural marxism" at work drinks, the whole nine yards
