As all politicians left and right talk "affordability", GOP commits to raising insurance premiums 200% or 300% for millions of Americans. See you in November, guys.
NEW: Hopes fade in Congress for a health care deal before premiums soar in January

Two weeks before recess, they're nowhere close.

Senate to vote on a bill of Dems' choosing; expected to fail.

Enhanced ACA funds set to expire, as many Republicans want.

Billions of dollars in tax credits under the Affordable Care Act are poised to expire at the end of the year. Lawmakers in both parties say they're nowhere close to a deal to renew them.

It is widely observed that extensions of the welfare state tend to be very difficult to reverse because anyone attempting it gets electorally punished. Anticipating this, parties/candidates don't even propose it. Let's see how a massive rollback goes for one of the few parties dumb enough to try it

Trump is claiming most of the presidential pardons which Biden issued are not legitimate.

That’s an awfully interesting stance for a guy who is counting on pardoning lots of his cronies for crimes they commit together. If I was one of said cronies, I’d be thinking about this precedent!

So, what Trump is saying here is the next president can cancel all the pardons he issued.
I’m also gonna start posting stuff I don’t have the authority to order.

Andrew Garfield shall be my husband.

The list of people I blame for RFK Jr. destroying US public health.

1. Trump. You are likely familiar with this shitbird so I don’t need to elaborate.

2. RFK Jr. Stunning arrogance. His eugenic beliefs are spreading.

3. Bill Cassidy. A doctor who eschews his training to please a tyrant.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the old saw that we get more conservative as we age and wondering whether what that really means is not so much that you go backward, but that you refuse to evolve as the world moves forward without you. Hillary is who she always was, but we have WILDLY outgrown her
God, same. I was a white, progressive, democratic person who identified as a woman when she was big in the era of Our Next Hope for exactly my demographic. But good God has it not aged well. She is the worst. Part of it is my evolution and her lack of evolving.

A core problem for American liberalism is a constitutional inability to tell people who were important to the movement decades ago to go away because they're not relevant anymore.

Reagan/GW Bush admin people might as well not exist to the modern right. Maybe that's...something to consider.
Hillary Clinton blames TikTok and “totally made up” videos for young people’s views on Israel and Palestine.

She says social media influenced “not just the usual suspects” but also “young Jewish Americans who don’t know the history and don’t understand.”

It doesn't get you off the command responsibility hook to say you were too stupid and incompetent to realize you were flippantly ordering a crime.
OK, This NYT Hegseth PR piece is unbelievable, but I want to point out two specific ways why.

1. "As that operation unfolded, they said, Mr. Hegseth did not give any further orders to him."

This sentence says nothing new, and only raises further questions about WHY NOT; it does not clear him.
