Letter to my MP
Dear Julian Smith,

As per the BBC website:
A Conservative councillor has quit the party "with profound regret" after Kemi Badenoch said a future Tory government would withdraw from the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).

Bravo to him.

When will you follow in his footsteps?

Got distracted while getting ready for work. The combination of a fox and autumn colours in our garden was irresistible. Started with my phone but then had to grab my proper camera.

I have no issue with people marking the centenary of the birth of someone no longer alive. But wishing THEM Happy Birthday is weird by any measure.

On which note, Happy Birthday to the very much alive Nana Mouskouri!

Why would Sénateurs be against? With the election mode of Sénateurs, they are unlikely to lose their seats any time soon.
Also some of them are desperate to be candidate at the Presidential election. Something they feel is incompatible with taking part in a government.

Why would Députés from Les Républicains be in favour of being in the government? To try and strengthen it so that there is less risk of a new MP election that may cost them more seats.

Les Républicains have done a funny dance over the past few weeks.

Initially, Républicains in the National Assembly were against taking part in the new government while Sénateurs were in favour.

Over the past few days they switched.

The 6 ministers from Les Républicains who have joined the government have been thrown out by the party.

Rassemblement National and LFI have announced they will issue "motion de censure" to trigger the downfall of the government.
Will Les Républicains vote with LFI and Rassemblement National? What about the Socialists?

French government has been announced.
A number of technocrats have joined.
Several MPs from parties that demanded their MPs do not join have joined the government and stand to be chucked out as party members (Horizons and Les Républicains)

Because he claims getting rid of asylum seekers and other foreigners will save billions to the treasury. Of course his figures don't add up but provided he can blame bloody forrins like me for Britain's ills, MEGAts will keep applauding.

It's been a pretty surreal day on BlueSky. It reached its peak when some rando insisted that I am English, despite my protestations to the contrary, because I am "culturally English", and should embrace being English, since "ceding Englishness to Reform" is why they are so high in the polls.

Step one: you create a law against something that does not really exist
Step two: you instruct courts to find that people and organisations are part of that group you made illegal.
