Just spoted some pigeons hanging out on a Waitrose sign.

But can't stop thinking why the pigeon on the middle point of the 'W' hasn't just jumped over the top of the 's'?

Prime pigeon real estate is surely the cosy snugs inside the 'a' and 'o', though...

The Daily Mail, Daily Express, Times and Daily Telegraph are ALL carrying this two-page advert prominently within their news pages today.

That tells you a LOT about these newspapers - and the £££ available to Farage

The Telegraph has just published *yet another* correction to one of its net-zero articles.

By my count, that is now the TWELFTH such correction since Labour won the election (and covers 15 separate articles).

I have now added the latest one to my epic thread which is tracking these corrections...
"We are happy to correct the record."

🏆 We have a winner!

COP30’s gavel went down at 8:44pm last night.

So, in reverse order…

5) Malcolm Senior – BBC News (8 mins out)
4) Jack Graham – Thomson Reuters (5)
3) Sophia Volper – Juniata College (4)
2) Pete Daw – Independent consultant (3)
1) Mark Major – Kühne Climate Center, Hamburg (2)
Carbon Brief has started a sweepstake on when the gavel will formally come down on COP30.

No prize on offer - just the global bragging rights when we announce the winner(s) on social media.

If you want to have a go, please enter your guess at the precise day/time here…

A consolidation of rabid climate denial, too
Daily Mail's parent company agrees a deal to buy Telegraph for £500m! Media consolidation, let's go, ya gonna blink and stop this competition regulators? Over to you, Nandy? Strong potential everyone just waves the sale through to STOP HAVING TO READ OR THINK ABOUT IT. www.ft.com/content/cd8e...

You won't be surprised to learn that all of the UK's right-leaning media - Sun, Mail, Telegraph, GB News, etc - have chosen today to ignore this story.

I can't imagine why?

NEW: Global fossil fuel use will peak before 2030 – unless 'stated policies' are abandoned

Contra some terrible news coverage, IEA World Energy Outlook shows coal near peak, oil peaking by 2030 & gas by 2035 (see chart)

Proposed late additions to agenda:

* trade

* reporting

Hence, now on 4th version of agenda (!)

This must be resolved before negotiations begin 🧵

I volunteer to teach climate social science in schools every week - UK government can call me any time.
The right-wing press is predictably freaking out that the UK govt is going to - wait for it - improve teaching in schools on climate change and media literacy.

Ignore their frothing and read what the curriculum review by Prof Becky Francis actually says...

Rob Jetten looks on course to be the next Dutch prime minister.

Quick reminder that he was once the nation's climate and energy minister:

"I work every day to put the Netherlands on course towards a climate-neutral society by 2050 at the latest."

Quite the contrast with Geert Wilders...

FACTCHECK: The frontpage of today's Daily Telegraph has a very confused story about offshore wind, which is all sorts of wrong

It says a technical change means higher subsidies & fewer new windfarms from the upcoming AR7 auction

Oopsie!

This is the opposite of the truth 🧵

AR7 analysis: How much offshore wind will the govt be able to contract at the upcoming CfD auction?

It depends on the "strike price", but roughly…

6GW at £70/MWh
5GW at £80/MWh
4GW at £90/MWh
