Sometimes Bluesky feels like 100,000 people simultaneously telling somebody how to correct their golf swing

This is Soybean. He's a little guy with a big personality, and we have a feeling only one of those things is going to change. 12/10 (IG: g.anjang2)
I would include β€˜Spotlight’ as a prelude to the movement. A couple of Docs come to mind β€˜On The Record’ and β€˜Black Box’. As for mini-series β€˜We Need to Talk about Crosby’ covers it all from the the rise of public outcry to messy fallout.

Kelly Reichardt's The Mastermind is out in limited release today in the States, and i would highly, highly recommend it: a patient process thriller a la Melville, if the hero of a Melville movie was a Raskolnikovian loser from Worcester, Mass.

As a historian, I can certify that we are in the bad times. But bad times eventually end.
In the meantime:
β€’ Figure out a small way to help someone
β€’ Figure out a small way to fight back
β€’ Figure out a small place to find joy
β€’ Figure out a small way to grow and thrive

And do it often.

Back for the good people @ebertvoices.bsky.social, I spoke to the great American filmmaker Kelly Reichardt about her new film THE MASTERMIND, the talented Josh O'Connor’s timeless mug, and more. Really happy with this, so would love for ya to give it a read belowπŸ“½οΈ

RIP Drew Struzan - a man whose talent and imagination etched onto so many minds throughout the last 40+ years.

His art & posters are some of the first visuals I think of when I think about cinema - an invitation to watch these stories and worlds.

A massive loss πŸ’”

Here's Diane Keaton at Warren Beatty's AFI tribute, talking about a perfect (no exaggeration) scene in Reds--taking the mystique out of filmmaking and then putting it right back in, in just two minutes. She was exquisite. www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_RS...

Comet wishes him luck but knows a pup as cute, fluffy and lovable as Milton doesn’t really need it for any family looking to open their hearts.
Enjoy? It's a pressing work that's as scary and unsettling as you'd think a Raoul Peck doc on George Orwell's worst imaginings has come to fruition. But glavanizing in helping people understand the chaos and what to do going forward.

One year ago today, a spectacular aurora display graced the night sky across much of the globe. This was my view in *Oklahoma.* What a beautiful world we are fortunate to live on. #photography

IT WAS JUST AN ACCIDENT: I chuckled at the WAITING FOR GODOT name-drop. A darkly comic morality play that balances on the razor's edge, while earnestly exploring cycles of violence done to us, and done to each other. So glad I got to see this with Panahi in attendance

SENTIMENTAL VALUE: floored by this one. Joachim Trier condenses generations of family pain into a lovely and bitterly funny ode to film and how art can connect us or drive us away. Renata and Stellan are sublime. I liked this even more than WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD!

There are a lot of scary things going on right now but we need to talk about how Leonardo DiCaprio is gradually turning into Jack Nicholson

It's time for your morning Milton
Whew! PTA and company have something special for you all to see! #onebattleafteranother is a propulsive, kinetic, can’t catch your breath, lean-to-the-screen action epic that sticks it to those in power. An american movie that meets the moment while being awesome entertainment through and through.

Alt: Leonardo DiCaprio in a bathrobe is walking down a hallway turns to give the power salute to Benicio Del Toro as he goes under a trap door. Caption reads 'Viva la revolucion!'

SOUND OF FALLING – Mascha Schilinski’s astonishing ambitious second feature drifts between four generations of families over the course of a century, all of them occupying the same German farmhouse. The past does so little to better equip each successive generation. This is a major film. #TIFF50 πŸ“½οΈ

Reminder that one thing that made this site good initially was that we sorta agreed to not re-post a bunch of objectionable crap by assholes into our friends’ TLs, even if just to say β€œlook at this asshole.”

The vibe was better when we just blocked those chumps and moved on.
