All she's got to respond to the Greens' "false hope" (and this in the context of her trying to win votes from grassroots Labour members) is "shouting about the government's successes"? If they're that successful, why would the Greens need to be offering any kind of hope at all, false or otherwise?

The Green Party is now the credible party people hoped Labour would be…

Reform is for the racists, bigots and hard of thinking.

And Labour has crucified itself chasing the Reform vote that will never vote for them.

Oops.

False hope about what? That things could possibly get better? Labour telling on themselves here

Accusing the Greens of ‘peddling false hope’ is common sense analysis?

I'd love to know what values Labour thinks it's sticking to that somehow encompass neither reform nor the greens

Bridget Phillipson proving she isn't on our side or their side but her own side.

Labour and Phillipson are very much a "clear and present danger" to trans people and trans kids, disabled, immigrants, the poor etc. There's no difference between Labour and Reform on this.

Vote Green, get Green.

Given what labour has become i will welcome the greens replacing them.

I know the good things Labour has done. They just don't come close to mitigating the awful things they've done.

A milquetoast workers' rights bill and some rental protections don't make up for rampant racism, harming disabled people, or depriving children of evidence based healthcare.

UK energy firms call for overhaul of regulator Ofgem.

Energy cartel wants an even more compliant regulator.

Need a regulator that curbs profiteering, decouples gas from the price of electricity.

Regulator must be accountable to the people. Consumers must elect the board and vote on exec pay.

Also because the people inside it are too cowardly to either spend the money or demolish/stop using the building to not spend it, so their staff have to work in a deathtrap instead.

We are encouraged not to see this as a metaphor for how Britain is run.
The Palace of Westminster is literally going to either burn down, kill someone, or both because spending money to save it is perceived as so politically toxic.

Very good from @bearlypolitics.co.uk on Tory MP Katie Lam's immigration bill. It removes human rights from those legally in the UK & can deport them for not earning enough. The right is sending up this ballloon to normalise taking YOUR rights away. Be afraid.

"They Will Also Need to Go Home"
A sitting Conservative MP has introduced a bill that would make lawful residents deportable for earning under £38,700 - and Britain’s political class is barely blinking.

Genuinely fascinating that the only supermarkets paying all their staff above the London Living Wage are the German discounters.

Thank you to @mrjamesob.bsky.social for having me on, one of the v few people in the UK press to follow this story during what is now a decade of media apathy &/or complicity
‘The threat couldn’t be more urgent and imminent. Yet here we are, still putting our head in the sand.’

@carolecadwalla.bsky.social says it’s ‘peculiar’ that the case of Farage ally Nathan Gill admitting to making pro-Russia speeches for cash isn’t being followed more closely.

Lawyers, accountants warn Reeves against tax raid on partnerships.

Turkeys opposing Christmas.

Partners derive almost all of their income from one source, but not considered to be employees.

Receive share of profit, instead of salary. Firms don't pay employer national insurance, Govt loses £bns.

Krakow to Warsaw for €2.10 has got to be some sort of record, surely?
Lo-cost operator Regiojet is expanding into Poland, they've run 1 train per day since September, increasing to 8 trains a day from December.
They'll also run trains from Warsaw to Poznan, Gdansk & Gdynia.
In Europe they prosecuted & convicted racist ministers. We have laws & codes of conduct. We need to start applying them to our politicians.

I would have thought LibDem, SNP/Plaid or Green MPs writing to permanent secretary of Home Office or National Statistician might see Home Secretary asked to withdraw the inaccurate claim and replace it with an accurate claim to propose these or other policies.

Ipso might say it is comment not fact

What Labour should be saying (and all parties, days ago)...
People who have come to the United Kingdom legally, played by the rules and made it their home do not need to “go home”. This is their home.

@eddavey.libdems.org.uk has written to Kemi Badenoch to give her the chance to reject these divisive calls from her frontbencher Katie Lam.

One thing that has skewed the immigration debate for decades has been asymmetric mobilisation - immigration is more salient for migration sceptics, who are also more politically mobilised.

I wonder if one consequence of the recent Tory/Reform Idi Amin Mass Deportation plans will be to change this
Not only do my earnings not meet the threshold (though I have quite enough to live with comfortably, thank you), I made the mistake of claiming jobseeker allowance for two or three months about 15 years ago, so that's me done... And that's before I even think of "stealing" my state pension!
Tory policy is to revoke permanent residence (ILR) for everybody who does not earn £38k - deporting most nurses who have ILR

This is put in the video as "who is unlikely to contribute more than they cost"

NB: video does not say EU settled status is exempt

No govt since Idi Amin has done this
How come they couldn't step forward & say say yes/no to the allegations. They were within 6 ft of him, day and night!
