Weeks ago a Somali friend told me how deeply meaningful they personally found all the show of support. And that was at a lower level of danger, more metaphorical support.
I'm scared about how bad this could get but I also have a lot of love for the Minnesota that will make it out the other side

I get daily calls from neighbors who speak Spanish who want me to let you all know they are grateful for those looking out and patrolling. Our community is thankful.

This. I am done returning to the status quo of what got us here. I want universal healthcare. I want a maximum wage tied to the minimum wage. I want omnipresent, cheap public transit and walkable neighborhoods. I want Supreme Court and police reform, and I want the rich to pay their fair share.
We need to pick up this Overton Window and throw it as far as we can. Stop waiting for shit to “be popular” and start advocating for what is transparently right.

These problems are bigger than any individual so this isn't a solution but I do think Schumer and Jeffries should be replaced by any two Minneapolis residents who are out doing ICE patrols right now

Having seen several abductions up close, it is really hard to convey how much the thing they’re doing is roaming in military convoys until they see someone who is alone and isn’t white, and then jumping out in large numbers, pulling them into a van, and screeching off, all in 90 seconds or so.

I pulled up next to one at 10:17am yesterday an snapped a photo. By 10:27 the agents I photographed were in front of my house, along with another vehicle that met them there. It's a 10 minute drive from where I took the photo to my house - so they got the data *instantly*
