NEW from me: An Episcopal priest — a Kenyan national who works with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice — has been detained by ICE, says diocese.

The area bishop, reached via email, told me church officials still “do not know yet why he was targeted.” religionnews.com/2025/11/02/e...

(RNS) — 'We do not know yet why he was targeted', said the Rt. Rev. C. Andrew Doyle, who leads the Diocese of Texas.

Hey, at least with the transcript you don't have to listen to that voice (which I physically cannot do)

"Factchecking Trump on '60 Minutes'"

In today's 'First Draft' morning newsletter from Zeteo, I counted and debunked at least *17 obvious, brazen lies* that the president told CBS's Norah O'Donnell, and that she just let slide:
🧾 Factchecking Trump on '60 Minutes'
Mehdi debunks the president's lies, unpacks the failure of our mainstream media, and has the latest from Gaza, as well as Trump's 'Great Gatsby'-esque Halloween party.

I'm not a Nobel winning economist, but it seems to me the world's largest retailer and the worlds largest delivery services laying off hundreds of thousands right before the busiest retail and delivery season of the year is perhaps not an optimistic indicator of Trump's promised "Golden Age"

I want to live in an America where nobody does public displays of their Nazism because it will ruin their whole goddamn life, as it should.
Evidently there was an Auschwitz-themed float in a Halloween parade in Pennsylvania.

The float was for a Catholic school, and to their credit the church immediately disavowed it.

Thing is, I don’t think high school kids did this entirely on their own. I’m guessing parents had to be involved.
Hell, it wouldn't even take all of them. Joel Osteen's alone would solve hunger completely in this country, at least for a little while.

You know who is helping Texas judges sue the judicial commission to avoid punishment for refusing to wed gay couples? The First Liberty Institute! www.chron.com/culture/reli...
THIS is how it's done!
I love how Rep. Joe Neguse reframed this question.

If people actually understood how willing our government is to go to war with its own people simply for demanding equal rights, I think a lot more of us would be ready for war.

NEW: ICE is planning to build a shadow deportation network in Texas. A proposal outlines a 24/7 transport operation run by armed contractors—turning Texas into the logistical backbone of an industrialized deportation machine.

CBS went to a military food pantry (those words, in order) to interview moms. 13% of military families rely on SNAP/WIC. When a military spouse of a deployed soldier on enlisted salary was asked if people should be surprised: “No they shouldn’t. We live in poverty just like everybody else.”
In other words, Xi ran orange man around like a cat on a leash, told orange man what a good boi he was, and orange man gave away everything.

DHS says our new piece is "dishonest, slanted, and fundamentally inaccurate" but won't say why. Here's the story where we show with evidence that DHS spliced together clips spanning years and multiple locations to create its own reality. Gift link wapo.st/4nuDGwf

If you’re upset with me pointing out the obvious fact that voters’ withholding votes has never influenced a change in policy from political candidates, you should absolutely stop following me.

I’m sure there’s someone that will tell you boycotting is Smart, Actually but it’s not going to be me.
Really can't believe there's smart people I follow who still don't realize how expecting unconditional voting and shaming those exercising the only power they have got us to this point in time. This is privileged horseshit and I'm tired of having to pretend otherwise to placate liberal sensibilities
I cannot believe there are still people in my mentions arguing that boycotting an election because the candidates aren’t addressing your issue is a way to get them to pay attention.

“‘Give yourself up already,’” she remembers ICE agents taunting, her voice breaking. “‘Look at your little girl running away in fear.’”

Is this how we enforce immigration law in the United States?

Coffee prices are up 21%.

Ground beef prices up 13%.

Big reason why?

Trump’s chaotic tariffs on Brazil.

I voted to repeal these tariffs along with every Democrat and a few Republicans, and it PASSED the Senate.

All eyes now on House Republicans who are still on vacation.
