From your friendly librarian: please, please don’t make books, reading, or visits to the library a punishment OR a reward. It’s not as effective as you think it is, and it damages the relationship your child can build with us. Literacy is a birthright.

We have the newest casualty of the “parents rights," movement in Texas! And we can thank Sen. Angela Paxton’s “parental rights” school library bill (SB 13) for keeping Texas kids safe from Pretty Perfect Kitty Corn in Southlake, TX (Carroll ISD). @shannonhale.bsky.social

CULTS CULTS CULTS #ewgc
People love a good cult story, and PAPER CUT by Rachel Taff is a suspenseful thriller about a woman who's made a living telling the story of how she brought down a cult in her teens...but when a filmmaker asks to make a documentary about the case, the truth may finally be exposed. #ewgc 💙 📚

Watching all the Katrina coverage after 20 years, I’m still wondering why they sent empty buses to evacuate people. The government should have given tax breaks to any store willing to send supplies into the city- full buses of supplies in, full buses of people out. Was that done? I don’t know
