Never played either of the Last of Us games. Haven't even gotten around to the second season of the show. But yeah that sounds like it's done in a compelling way.

Yeah I do make an allowance for wolves versus more domesticated breeds.

While playing some more last night it occurred to me that Ghost of Tsushima would have been a really awesome project for the Nemesis System to be used.

Been playing Ghost of Tsushima. I remember people talking up the whole follow the wind thing like it was super innovative and solved the map marker issue that AC games have. But in my experience so far it's still mostly chasing markers on the map until I'm close enough the marker in world.

Probably the result of recency bias and this already being stuck in my head, but Dexter or a serial killer simulator game heavily based on Dexter.

Thursday night Halo with an online community. Mix of matchmaking and customs. Spending the rest of the week messing around in Forge to create a new map to show off.

It is a really fantastic looking game.

Similarly if I ever recommend someone check out a new restaurant, all prior restaurants are inherently trash to be avoided.

Good news, the cross-gen period will probably add 3 years into it at least. Would not be surprised to see games still launching on the current gen in 2030.

"That wasn't for you" is such a dumb response from them there.

Any good recs for a couch co-op game in PC?

Beige.party is a good one. 👍

You should be able to follow my bridged account over there at beige.party/@hybridhavoc...

Looks like not all my posts made it there but that should be fixed now I hope.

I’m quite seriously concerned about the economic collapse that’ll come with the AI bubble popping, and I feel like this really illustrates why: so many headlines touting huge numbers and insane productivity for services there is absolutely no market for. Who wants 8,000 extra books a year?
marcorinaldi.bsky.social
Why? Who is this meant to be good for? Nobody wants your shit AI books, never mind 8,000 in a year. Just a terrible idea and a horrible road the publishing industry is heading down.
Bookseller article with the headline "New publisher Spines aims to 'disrupt' industry by using AI to publish 8,000 books in 2025 alone" 🤮🤮🤮

Also in my TBR but I have 3 mutuals on Storygraph that have read The Unbroken and rated it highly. I just finished Piranesi so may do The Unbroken next.

Most likely their mom. 🙄

With alt text. This is wildly anti-social behavior and frankly disgusting.
Partial text from an article. "The majority of Chatfishers say they would never dream of letting AI do all of their talking. Most are like 38-year-old Londoner Nick, who sees it as a tool to help foster stronger connections with app matches. He works in tech and lives with his girlfriend; they're in an open relationshipa nd both date other people casually. He sometimes uses ChatGPT in his conversations on the dating apps Feeld and Bumble. "If I'm using a dating app," he says, "I want to start a conversation that feels meaningful from the beginning so I can hook the other person in - but also I don't want to spend too much time on it."

I don't own any Apple devices, but have subbed to their video streaming service. Every time I try to watch something on there from a PC they lock my account and force me to go through an unlock process.

I think that counts though. Zombies are always fair game.

I'd say that I feel somewhat differently about wild wolves in games. But I don't think there's ever been a time when being required to kill a dog in a game was anything but a bad experience.
hybridhavoc.com
While dogs have certainly been used in warfare, so their presence in this case is probably historically accurate, it just frankly doesn't feel good or righteous to me to kill dogs in games.
hybridhavoc.com
Yeah. I'm playing through Ghost of Tsushima right now, and sometimes the groups of enemy soldiers I am fighting will have dogs that assist in hunting me down. They will attack and I'm mostly forced to kill them.
hybridhavoc.com
In the history of video games, have you ever enjoyed having a dog as an enemy that you had to kill?
