Because I couldn't find any (for some insane reason), I've created a moderation list for Bluesky accounts that support, or engage in vivisection. You can find this and more under my Lists tab.

And yet most scientists have always done horribly wrong things in the name of "science". Make it make sense.

It's undeniable that Trump doesn't actually care about animals.
Don't get it twisted.

But he is still the first president to take a stand against vivisection. Personally I'll accept it as a big win in a pretty big area and hope he doesn't cause significant harm in other areas of animal wellbeing.

EXCLUSIVE: CDC to end all monkey studies. Decision handed down by recent college grad and former DOGE employee who is now deputy chief of staff at the agency. Animals were being used in studies of HIV prevention. Some may be euthanized. My latest for @science.org
Exclusive: CDC to end all monkey research
Studies related to HIV and other infectious diseases will be phased out, sources say; fate of the agency's animals remains unclear

Anyway can people stop making comparisons like "people treat animals better than this" anytime bad things happen to people? Because unfortunately it is far from the truth and way off topic.

Research in Japan shows that chimps have better short-term memory than humans; our ancestors may have lost some of that capacity when they evolved speech (everything has a cost; tradeoffs are common in evolution.)

We consistently underestimate animal intelligence.

1. Make all farming sustainable, regenerative and necessary, ie stop growing corn for ethanol, stop farming animals for luxury usages like clothing, chotskies, medical research, adornments and such.
2. All animal farming should be as humane as humanly possible.
3. End for profit farming.

We are conditioned to accept this is the way things have to be
They don't. We need change. We already have human relevant research but the government funds animal research because of profit, not people.

Too bad we reached this point by completely discarding basic ethics on a massive scale. And it's going to wind up being our downfall. No scientific advancement is worth harming an innocent being. Not a single one.

It has taken medical science 200 years to advance humans to the point where people are so healthy and living so long that they can deny that science and medicine is what got us here.

"Welfare" in a laboratory setting means "whatever we personally think is acceptable to achieve our own goal".
It's intended to mislead the public because it sounds pleasant. Only a fool can look images and videos of animals in labs and call it "humane". Words can deceive, our eyes see what is.
Welfare standards in animal research represent the minimum.

They aim to reduce suffering within animal use, not challenge whether animal use is necessary at all.

Our view is that welfare is the foundation. But replacement is the future.

✅Quicker.
✅Cheaper.
✅More accurate.
✅More ethical.
