The thing that concerns me is the amount of land, water, fuel, & fertilizer devoted to growing feed for livestock. Setting aside my vegetarian moral qualms, the resources required to sustain a completely optional and unnecessary meat-centered culture are a grotesque waste and inefficient exchange.

The last line of Dr. Mittermeier’s post is the heart of the matter. It’s those who have a stable if not cushy existence who are most willing to do the work of the oligarchy. They see themselves sufficiently above the masses to imagine they are masters not merely agents.

I don‘t know who needs to hear this but your support and solidarity should be with those below you in the hierarchy not above, and only with your peers if they also adhere to this principle. Historically, middle management is who keeps bad people in power.

People who say "you can't possibly read everything you cite" are saying a lot about themselves, IMO.

It doesn't have to be a heavy lift. I spend about half an hour a day processing new-to-me papers by organizing them in my reference managers & adding topical tags so I can create bibliographies.

It’s time to normalize intolerance for equivocation. If a yes or no question doesn’t get a yes or no answer, the speaker’s time is up. This should be the iron rule of Congressional hearings.
