low key the most egregious condescension is this idea that conservatives do not have agency and are not making choices but are purely reactive and have no mind of their own
if you live around conservatives, a common bumper sticker reads “liberalism is a mental disorder.” you’ll see effigies of dem politicians, unhinged screeds about satan-worshipping dems written on lawn signs. this stuff gets ignored while any hint of condescension from liberals is treated as endemic

And it's fine for there to be a place like that - I think that Mastodon's future probably lies in creating much more specific spaces that are tailored to specific groups.
The problem there, as I see it, is that style of federation goes pretty strongly against this.

ultimately i think bluesky is gonna replace the twitter impulse, and mastodon is gonna replace the reddit impulse
The actual thing though is Bluesky made a real Twitterlike with puppy-zoomies acceleration + algo choice while Mastodon made a thing that looked like a Twitterlike but was built from trap streets and faraday cages, and they’re going to accomplish really different things

personally i DO know what’s going to happen, i’m just not gonna say it because i just don’t like the spotlight
as i have said i am confident about tomorrow but also i genuinely think that we are in completely unknown territory. there is this big gender gap in early voting and also a good chance turnout will be massive. what does it all mean? no idea.
