I’m really excited to share that I won the Frank R. Paul Award for Best Magazine Cover Art! My painting Stasis, a self-portrait about invisible illness, was featured on the cover of Uncanny Magazine Issue 58 🖤

Reskeeting this because today's #SciFaikuSaturday theme is 'World', where we ask ourselves just what a world is.

worlds unto themselves

So... spells.

We're using spells to undo the work we've done... tricking rocks into thinking with lightning.

And trapping evil cars in circles of salt.

The old ways are new again.
Looks like LLMs are *very* vulnerable to attack via poetic allusion: "curated poetic prompts yielded high attack-success rates (ASR), with some providers exceeding 90% ..."

Y'all need to have the same kind of smoke for AI Music as you have for AI Art. Okay?

Music is an extremely important part of artistic human expression, and we must not allow it to rot away because 'it sounds just like the real thing' or whatever.

Musicians are going through it too. Fuck AI.

On August 12, 1971, 16-year-old me mailed the first story I ever wrote off on its first submission to my dream market, F&SF. My tale was quickly rejected. On July 17th, 2025, I finally sold a story to that magazine. Here's why I felt I had to withdraw that story. www.scottedelman.com/wordpress/20...

Finished another piece of flash fiction. 300 words of technological dystopia.

If you had shown me this story in the year 2000 I would have called it unrealistic. Now, I can call it almost mild 😶. These sure are interesting times we live in.
