FWIW, British censuses 1851-1911 included a column to note whether deaf-and-dumb, blind, imbecile or idiot, lunatic. In 1871 a very distant relative of mine was recorded "imbecile" but also worked as an agricultural labourer and lived alone

Very revealing of a Christian (Calvinist) mindset who wants everyone to “turn to Christ” but who is obsessed with Mosaic law and predictably sex, Pride parades, abortion, adultery (stoning? hey, why not!) etc. Wilson’s "Christendom 2.0" (1.0 had bugs!) would be laughable if it weren’t so dangerous
