This has been true for a very long time, even before President Eisenhower warned us about the "military-industrial complex" during the Cold War. It's just one domain of capitalist exploitation, but, so far, an untouchable one that has long needed to be curbed (or, better yet, eliminated).

True, but reducing "your", an individual's impact, is not enough! If you recognize the need, then study up & support efforts to free both humans & other exploited animals from the meat industry. You can't support EVERY effort but find one or more & support them, either by volunteering or with money.

We don’t need all the soy and corn that we grow, but those are the commodities that receive subsidies and markets.

If we want something better, if we want to heal the Earth and grow food, now is the time to do it.

Yes to all that. However, taxes exist because we live in a capitalist society where everything is turned into commodities with money values. Imagine a world without that perversion in which we simply collectively took care of everyone, so no homelessness, no poverty, just mutual aid & care.

They should support homeless people.

They should support those living in poverty, children and the elderly.

This is literally the purpose of taxes, and I would far rather support those who need it than continue to enrich the elite.
