Re-posting with alt text because the post accompanying this is obviously wrong, it's clearly a picture of a woman on a Crosscountry train having found a place to sit on the floor and read, her coffee cup beside her, folks queuing for the loo behind her

I do not have the skill set to do this but one thing my parents did ingrain in me is that the purpose of these groups’ door knocking is not actually to convert- the leaders know that doesn’t work. It’s to teach members that they will be ridiculed, ostracised, despised outside the cult

Chilli Jam/ Jelly is a nigella.com favourite (as you’ll see from the lovely comments below the recipe) though that’s not the only reason it’s #RecipeOfTheDay. It’s also the perfect condiment for Christmas cold cuts, as well as making for an excellent present! www.nigella.com/recipes/chil...
Chilli Jam
Although I call this chilli jam, I don't mean by this that it's the sort of thing you'd spread on your toast at breakfast (though smeared inside a bacon sandwich, it could be a real help one hungover ...

No one sends e-cards any more. Fifteen years ago it was one of the innocent delights of advent to wake up to a bulging inbox of broken javascript animations from lettings agents, hairdressers I won't be using again, and hotels I stayed in once. Now, nothing. O tempora, o mores.

Why does the special Christmas issue of @newscientist.com feature a clam with Shakespeare's head?? Because I wrote about the world's longest-lived animal - who was already 100 in Shakespeare's time - and lived to be 507 years old.

Since becoming a parent I have not, in fact, understood the parents who say “if you were a parent you’d understand” about vaccine hesitancy. Being in charge of this fragile little miracle has me saying things like “give her all the vaccines. Turn this baby into a pincushion” to doctors
