tech companies are also getting lean to weather an economic storm that's coming, in part, due to their own self-serving and shitty choices, like supporting an erratic authoritarian with dementia who is destabilizing the climate, dismantling the legal system, and demolishing the social safety net
so many companies say they are replacing people - laying them off - with automated systems, AI. but there has been no real auditing or regulatory approach to vetting such claims. i am deeply skeptical. think a lotta the cuts are just due to failures to sell or cut costs & prior over hiring.

“Has faced pushback” from who, you fucking hacks?

In the final days of New York City’s mayoral race, Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani has faced pushback over a story he told about his aunt being afraid to wear her hijab while riding the subway after the September 11, 2001, attacks. https://cnn.it/432IAcr

I know it’s too much to expect them to know their history, but if the American Revolution had a motto, it definitely would not have been “immigrants go home.”

It would have been “get your fucking soldiers out of our cities.”
America... boy, I dunno.

The narrative that rabbis aren’t showing up for Mamdani— or that nobody believes that economic and labor justice are core Torah values — is false.
We’re proud New York Rabbis for Zohran. Our movement of thousands of Jews For Zohran is growing. Join us to elect Mayor Mamdani at jfrej.org/field 🗳️

Y'know, it would save a lot of effort, time, and money if they cut to the chase and erected a statue of Hitler in a Klan hat wrapped in a Confederate flag.

No offense to economists*, but economists always remind me of some kid your mom made you play with who imposed a bunch of serious but arbitrary rules like “We can’t bring out the Cobra Commander while mother is in the vestibule.”

* some substantial offense

When a chatbot gets something wrong, it’s not because it made an error. It’s because on that roll of the dice, it happened to string together a group of words that, when read by a human, represents something false. But it was working entirely as designed. It was supposed to make a sentence & it did.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.
