I've ranted about LLM "AI" elsewhere, and in replies, but to reiterate it in a thread that I can pin now:

One of the fundamentals of computer science is "Garbage In, Garbage Out". I learned this as a child, learning to program, over 40 years ago.

You cannot put bad data in, and get good data out.

As far as I can tell, this policy would deport my Swedish wife (who has a well-paying job and pays thousands in tax each year, not that that should decide these things) because she "took" from society by going on maternity leave when our kids were born.

Here Lam explicitly sets out her proposal - which is official Conservative Party policy - to deport long-standing legal permanent residents who have *ever* claimed any benefit, including the state pension or child benefit (even if the child is British), or who earn less than £39K.

Anyway, the tl;dr to take away from all this is a thing I have been repeating for ages, which is that extremism symbols function on a plausible-deniability basis. People who use them 100% rely on normal people going "I had no idea, so maybe he didn't either."

Declaring that someone is unfit to run for a public office is not the same thing as declaring that they should be banished from human society forever or publicly executed. No one is owed a Senate nomination

Let's keep this simple. This is not about whether Platner is an irredeemable person, or whether he can be forgiven. This is not about whether people were wrong to find him an intruging candidate in his initial appearances — I agree that he was. It's about who will be the Democratic candidate in a critical Senate in Maine, and "got a Nazi tattoo and still has it" is transparently disqualifying. You cannot be explaining your Nazi tattoo and defeat a multi-term incumbent who has consistently punched above her party's weight in the state. His allies are not doing him any favors if they allow him to believe otherwise, and if you don't like Mills you need to find someone else to challenge her.

On the subject of COVID, while I can’t prove it with facts and figures, I’m convinced my second bout last year has made me FAR more susceptible to URTIs in general, and my recovery period is longer.

I’ve normally had enough sick days each year to carry me, but not this year.

I think, probably obviously, COVID played a role too. Not so much the infection(s), but the experience.

However, that feels more like an accelerant, than a root cause.
