This is the thing; we should be able to analyze accommodations as threatening not only established and well defended hierarchies of ability but also race, gender and class.
What people allegedly worried about ‘too many accommodations’ are really concerned about is the dilution of their privilege
they got there by using a system intended to help able bodied and wealthy white men

they've been getting a lot of accommodations for a very long time

Disabled people being denied accommodations is a far bigger issue than "pretenders gaming the system." It's deep and systemic. Many disabled people face obstacles to even getting a diagnosis, which is required for accommodations. We have to stop focusing on everything but the actual problem.
Balancing "no person with a disability should be denied accommodations" with "it's important to discourage non-disabled people from pretending to be disabled to take advantage of these accommodations" is really difficult and I don't have a great answer for what anyone should do about it.

Sure, they've made an environmentally catastrophic mass hallucination disinformation plagiarism Clippy that will destabilize the world, but also their other goal is to replace human workers entirely and let us humans starve. A boycott of AI is the most important boycott of your entire life.
"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."

Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?

Pras' (The Fugees) lawyer used a generative AI program to write closing arguments, mixing up key facts in the case and quoting a Diddy lyric from "I'll Be Missing You."

It would be funny if AI fails didn't have such disastrous consequences.

This is what oligarchy looks like:

If you're Elon Musk, the richest man alive, Tesla gives you a $1 trillion pay package & Trump gives you a huge tax break.

If you're a poor kid on SNAP, Trump appeals a court decision that would have prevented you from going hungry.

Obscene.

This is important, and it's also important that we use accurate words for what ICE agents are doing. Every one of them needs to be charged with kidnapping. Charged w child abuse for tear gassing kids, attempted murder for hitting people with cars, etc. NO MERCY.
This really hasn’t gotten enough attention this week.

Abolishing ice and prosecuting those ICE officials and employees who commit these crimes must be the baseline for the Democratic Party going forward. Anyone who does not adopt this basic stance is OK with you or your neighbors being kidnapped by masked men and must be driven from political life.
I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this video.

I don’t know how we’ve gotten to the point where men in full balaclavas can abduct daycare teachers while they’re watching children.

But I do know that this isn’t sustainable. Abolish ICE. There is no way to reform this.

Free childcare is arguably the most impactful policy when it comes to equity for women, safety of children, and lifting families out of poverty.
New Mexico becomes the first U.S. state to offer free child care to all residents in a bid to boost its economy and lift education and child welfare levels ranked the worst in the country.
In U.S. first, New Mexico launches free child care for all
Under the program, families, regardless of income, can receive state vouchers to cover public and private child care fees.

"Guidelines now focus on early adoption of the technology by students and schoolchildren. But what does it mean to ‘learn how to use ChatGPT’? What are you teaching them? Copying and pasting the output of a chatbot?" - Luc Steels, AI pioneer
"“You can only critically assess the output of an AI chatbot if you have the skills to do so, and you don’t develop these skills by using AI. Before you can be critical of an AI summary, you have to learn to understand a text without having it summarized by an AI tool.”
