Let me give some insight on this, as a producer in the dub industry who worked with major streamers, who's witnessed first-hand where this push for AI is coming from.

In the original Star Wars: Battlefront 1 and 2 for the PS2, while on the Separatists team on Jabba's Palace, switching characters while being grabbed by the Rancor causes your character to rapidly self-destruct multiple times, creating ludicrous amounts of pick-ups and explosions.
