No? I'm saying the FEARS about D&D were coming from a completely different place than the fears about people's mental health while using chatbots. If a teen in the early 80s was "losing themself" in ad&d as a coping mechanism that would still be a cause for some concern.

I'm not saying nobody said that, but the majority of the panic when I was a kid was literally evangelicals who were afraid of basically all toys, games, and cartoons because they thought they were "satanic", so that was the narrative that I encountered most often.

Transness is not bourgeois. This is a wedge idea dreamed up by some gleefully amoral think tank lobotomite to split trans people and make us fight each other. That we relay on modern medicine doesn't make us any more bourgeois than someone who needs antidepressants or cleft palate repair.

Functionally though, it's not the same at all. "D&D opens your mind to possession by real demons because my pastor said so" is far removed from "forming an unhealthy reliance on a sycophantic chatbot appears, via evidence, to potentially have negative effects on the mental health of some people".
