Reminder that if you're trans like me every day you're alive is a protest. If I keep making art that's a protest. My body and heart are broken many times over; I'm not gonna beat myself up about what extra I "could be doing" beyond the help I already give to others. Cis/abled folks can step tf up.

I didn’t have time to paint this guy today but I REAAAAALLY wanted to so I made it happen. He’s just a little guy!! 🥹

I think I need to do the series of hummingbirds I keep thinking about.

#Birdtober day 14 is the Costa’s #Hummingbird.

🪶 🐡 #ArtChallenge #DigitalArt #Art #BirdArt #HumanMadeArt
A digital gouache painting of an extremely small, extremely fluffy brownish and cream hummingbird with intense purple and magenta iridescent feathers bracketing his eyes and face. He has a long beak and looks right at the viewer, his super teeny feet gripping a thin branch. Foliage and flowers against a blue sky fill the background. His wings are folded in rest.

New video! Today, I'm talking about how companion animals such as dogs, horses, and rabbits can sometimes also be food animals. How does that happen? Why does it emotionally affect us so much? What can we learn about it? #vetmed 🧪

It's especially fucked up that this his happening at a time when sex workers and 18+ artists are being demonetized.

If I've ever done this for you, please tell me, lol (tell me again if you told me already, I forgor)

Remember your "first me!" moment? That time you bumped into a character who you connected with—who felt (even in part) like you? How awesome it was?

You might never know it, but you’ve probably written one of those for someone else.

Maybe I'm just not old enough, I only lived through the later 80s-90s version of satanic panic, not the earlier part.
gpike.bsky.social
No? I'm saying the FEARS about D&D were coming from a completely different place than the fears about people's mental health while using chatbots. If a teen in the early 80s was "losing themself" in ad&d as a coping mechanism that would still be a cause for some concern.
gpike.bsky.social
I'm not saying nobody said that, but the majority of the panic when I was a kid was literally evangelicals who were afraid of basically all toys, games, and cartoons because they thought they were "satanic", so that was the narrative that I encountered most often.

my latest investigation for @consumerreports.org is based on months of reporting and 60+ lab tests of leading protein supplements

we found that most protein powders and shakes have more lead in one serving than our experts say is safe to have in a day (🧵)

Would it surprise you that the owner of Scientific American's parent company, Stefan von Holtzbrinck, invested $37 million in Inkitt, an AI firm?

What a SHOCK

do not listen to pundits, even trans pundits, who have given up in their hearts on the dream of liberation, who have preemptively sold out in hopes of becoming part of a world which is already dead and rotting

Transness is not bourgeois. This is a wedge idea dreamed up by some gleefully amoral think tank lobotomite to split trans people and make us fight each other. That we relay on modern medicine doesn't make us any more bourgeois than someone who needs antidepressants or cleft palate repair.

Functionally though, it's not the same at all. "D&D opens your mind to possession by real demons because my pastor said so" is far removed from "forming an unhealthy reliance on a sycophantic chatbot appears, via evidence, to potentially have negative effects on the mental health of some people".

Lol, yeah, exactly. I live in a semi-desert area that still freezes in the winter and gets hailstorms when it's not winter! Also there's a lot of wildlife that visits my yard!

Watching it without reading this and there was a moment where I was like "did they just get really excited about the lizard" and then I realized the reason for it and THEN I read the text. XD

They tell me the prickly lettuce (only thing that wants to grow in my yard) technically has some edible parts when it's young...

Love that we all know this is going to happen and have known it since this shit was introduced yet all we can do is wait for the dumbest and most easily avoidable economy crash of all time.
