FWIW, shame doesn’t seed empathy, exposure does
sure, and i wouldnt bat an eye if they said Babe polished off breakfast with even two double whiskey gingers, but like a whole pound of whiskey?
he played mostly during prohibition so maybe it was watered down mafia stuff. going about your day with a porterhouse and 16 shots in your tummy is just such nasty work, though i assume 1920s ginger ale was actual medicine
for my own sanity i have to assume whiskey was more watered down back then and this wasnt done at today's standard 80 proof
that outhouse was steaming, brother
defer to your boss's jewish son-in-law on a question about israel and referring to him as the investor
JD Vance defers to Jared Kushner on a question about Israel/Gaza ceasefire:

"Well, Jared's the investor here"
good reminder that i shouldnt make my main form of entertainment the live thoughts of a few hundred people who could at any point get wholly fixated on some dumb bullshit i dont care about

rendering a Minion low and slow in my Instant Pot
stop trying to get me to care about maine politics. oh is It from It running for office? i dont care, man
thats pretty nice for an Italian
obviously the people signing up to be gestapo are the lowest evil but there are hundreds or thousands of people who never thought theyd be asked to do this stuff but are just doing it anyway, maybe hoping in some cases someone else will undo the damage and they havent permanently broken something
same with the guys who launched the missiles at random fishing boats and sent out the termination letters to thousands of federal employees and pulled millions of grant funds. someone has to actually execute the orders and i guess with the job market this fucked nobody can afford to say no
all the paperwork that led to this aside, who actually agreed to man the excavator and tear down the side of the white house? would love an interview with that guy
The Trump administration, in one image.
its like he has a direct conduit to trump's id

like yeah sure the ACA was far from perfect (although “expansion of the welfare state was hard fought but woefully incomplete” is basically the history of american social policy), but it is difficult to overstate how important the Medicaid expansion has been to expanding health care access

I think the synthesis take was that friction was an undesirable thing which produced desirable side effects: it was annoying to have to search through the limited selection of the blockbuster or whatever, but you also were forced to broaden your horizons and got introduced to new things
Yeah, I think it is an impoverished take to see frictionless streaming from your couch as just an improved version of what was happening with video stores. There is that aspect, but there is true loss in the physical-digital switch and we needn’t pretend there’s not.
I’m gonna counterpoint this one: browsing was part of the fun. And browsing in the physical world is different from browsing in the virtual world.

The things that sucked about Blockbuster were primarily late fees and it being hard to find a new release on a Friday night.

When I swore at you over Mario Kart, I did it with the utmost love and respect.

“civil rights for everyone” is the cost of admission to the tent, or it’s not actually a coalition against fascism.
Folks demanding political / ideological purity fail to see that this is no longer a movement belonging to the left / liberals. This is an opposition against fascism. By definition it must be big tent. Failure to grasp this: see divided oppositions in Eastern Europe as your failed examples.
a rotted homunculus containing at least one damned soul for only $150. a steal if i've ever seen one
