If ever there was a snapshot of the America's deep cultural psychosis it is the Thanksgiving holiday with the add-on of Black Friday, Cyber Monday and now "Super Saturday?"

Q: How do we deal with the legacy of unacknowledged genocide? A: Buy stuff, lots of stuff.

Reposting last year's 🧵 👇
Holidays that celebrate family and food are good. They are even better when they are decoupled from the elaborate control mythologies that help us settlers ignore the unresolved history of American genocide.

REMINDER: Gathering with family and sharing food is good. Unacknowledged genocide and the economic system it created through land theft, structural racism and ecological destruction, are bad.

The horrors of the U.S. past don’t have to define our future.

Big news: California Attorney General Rob Bonta just led 17 states in filing a major amicus brief supporting our case, LA Press Club v. Noem — the case challenging the Trump administration’s use of federal force against peaceful protesters and journalists in Los Angeles.
We’re leading a coalition of 17 AGs in support of journalists and protesters challenging DHS’s dangerous use of force during the Los Angeles protests this past summer.

We will continue to oppose threats to free, safe speech wherever and whenever they arise.

Hard to imagine a more obviously immoral policy than criminalizing those who act to stop genocide while continuing to send weapons to the country carrying out a genocide.

Many countries are doing this but the UK's ban on Palestine Action supporters is perhaps the most insane example. #LetGazaLive
Around 140 arrests

Outside the Royal Courts of Justice today, as the judicial review over the ban on Palestine Action began, approximately 150 people defied the ban.

Arrests took around 6hours to complete, with an estimated 140 arrests made.

💯 I think "extortion" is the essence of their VC pitch. It's notable that Pasztor the person Stardust paid to legitimize them is the one who uses that term in the article.

From a #climate comms perspective I push "disaster profiteering" as an effective frame for all these techno-fix start ups.

Time to let American corporations know that there is a very real cost to supporting Tump's authoritarianism. This weekend let Home Depot, Amazon and Target know: #WeAintBuyingIt!
Beating MAGA fascism is going to take more than just protest marches. We need a campaign of mass noncooperation!

Let's start by targeting three of the worst corporations enabling the Trump regime during the biggest shopping weekend of the year: Nov 27-Dec 1. #WeAintBuyingIt weaintbuyingit.com

This article about the US government contract to break Signal's encryption is over a year old. Anyone got any updates? #NoKings
US gives Israel arms & political cover. Israel gives US repression tech. 😱

The Technology the Trump Administration Could Use to Hack Your Phone
Other Western democracies have been roiled by the use of spyware to target political opponents, activists, journalists, and other vulnerable groups. Could it happen here?

I'm sorry. I shouldn't. But it's too rich to pass up.

The centrist faction's biggest fossil-fuel promoter "genuinely" does "not understand" why Trump is gearing up to invade the sovereign nation that has the biggest oil reserves on the planet.

More reasons why OVERSHOOT of 1.5 is a terrible idea:

"[Carbon] removal would set off a process of outgassing, from oceans and forests and other spheres: sinks would somersault into sources...the more that is removed, the more will be outgassed...lending this project, too, a Sisyphean character."

Installing renewables is great but the essential part is ending fossil fuels and that's actually a different thing.

Link to full (horrifying) article is in replies to this post.

For anyone who works on #climate, or plans on living on this planet in the future, now is a great time to respond to the escalating campaign to normalize SRM by loudly endorsing the call for "Non-Use" promoted by www.solargeoeng.org
Glad to see more coverage on Stardust Solutions the terrifying military-linked startup trying to normalize solar geoengineering. This is disaster profiteering at it's dumbest and most dangerous.

Sadly paywalled. Anyone got a free link? This new threat deserves far more attention. #ClimateSky 🔌💡

I just learned that "ontological parsimony" is a fancy way to say Occam's razor. OK. Thanks for making me look that up.

No disrespect meant to any philosophers of science who might happen to see this post, but I think I'll be sticking with Occam's razor, which honestly already seems obtuse enough.

In case you were wondering who had more power inside the Trump regime RFK or the chemical industry… Here’s a key data point.
The EPA has approved two new pesticides with "forever chemicals" that will be used on food.

The agency has also announced plans for four additional approvals.

The approved pesticides will be used on vegetables such as romaine lettuce, broccoli and potatoes.

Maximized returns on the venture capital is the objective of this. Not the stated goal. The real business model could indeed be something like extortion on an international scale, couldn’t it.

Yeah, this is it. It's nuts that we use taxpayer money to pay huge profitable corporations to destroy civilisation.

I wish someone would line up A) how much each oil company has gotten in subsidies, and B) how much they have paid out in climate disinfo/denial.

Love this tactic! Great expression of the broader non-cooperation strategy to show all the corporate enablers of the regime that we will hold them accountable for their complicity with racism and authoritarianism. #WeAintBuyingIt #NoKings #AbolishICE
In Monrovia, California, protesters are purchasing 17¢ ICE scrapers from Home Depot and immediately returning them to create long lines and slow down the entire store. Their aim is to disrupt sales and convey a message opposing ICE raids occurring in their neighborhood.

FYI: As a person who does social change narrative work, I always recommend not replicating the label "techno-optimism" and instead calling it "techno-salvationism" since that helps audiences see the way this ideology is increasingly being used to bypass material reality.
