FYI: I looked up "illegal" in the NYT style guide.

It says, if an illegal act is committed by a Republican, it will be written as "upending norms" "testing norms" "testing limits of power" "novel interpretation"---but NEVER.....illegal

Nowhere in this NYT story does it state that these strikes are illegal, or at a minimum, have someone say that they are.
Every time Trump engages in illegal conduct--NYT will give you some details, but then throw up its arms, say who knows what it means--or that Trump is "upending norms"
