There definitely is. Cities (and how we badly need to make them better for people) are inherently interesting.
If you're an Economist subscriber (or not) and you cycle and are into this story btw, please do share it far and wide, because I'm trying to prove that there's a giant audience for urbanism!

even setting aside whatever it means for the vote on the release of the epstein files, we're at a very grim place if the republicans are straight up refusing to seat people democratically elected to congress
Today marks yet another day that Speaker Mike Johnson has denied Adelita Grijalva her right to govern.
She won her special election on Sept 23rd but has yet to be sworn in.
Why? Because she will become the 218th vote needed to discharge the release of the Epstein files.
Say her name.

The President of the United States is threatening to go to war with an American city.
This is not a joke. This is not normal.
Donald Trump isn't a strongman, he's a scared man. Illinois won’t be intimidated by a wannabe dictator.

Trigger warning.
“In crashes, SUVs are more likely to strike vital organs in the core of adults’ bodies & heads of children. Hitting pedestrians above their center of gravity means they’re more likely to be knocked forward & down and then be driven over.”
Plus more likely to hit in the 1st place.

What does it take to move 1000 people? Better infrastructure supporting mobility choices that don’t take up so much space (or produce so much emissions/pollution, cost so much public money, etc).
