I can't quite tell if you're joking or if you're confused with the Infernal Machine (a Tomb Raider-ish game from the late '90s). ;-)

Gun oil is toxic, you get all kinds of harmful particulate matter and gases when firing… definitely not good for your lungs. I believe lung injury has been linked to autism due to immune activation so if you expose a <6 y/o to that, whether directly or through a pregnant mother, it just might.

WGA Statement on ABC’s Decision to Pull Jimmy Kimmel Live!
The right to speak our minds and to disagree with each other - to disturb, even - is at the very heart of what it means to be a free people. It is not to be denied. Not by violence, not by the abuse of governmental power, nor by acts of corporate cowardice.
As a Guild, we stand united in opposition to anyone who uses their power and influence to silence the voices of writers, or anyone who speaks in dissent. If free speech applied only to ideas we like, we needn't have bothered to write it into the Constitution. What we have signed on to - painful as it may be at times - is the freeing agreement to disagree.
Shame on those in government who forget this founding truth. As for our employers, our words have made you rich.
Silencing us impoverishes the whole world.
The WA stands with Jimmy Kimmel and his writers.

That's a good point, but of course it could also just be one of the worst people on this platform or something. 😅

Somewhat to my surprise same here. (I rarely block anything.)

In Soviet Russia, you eat xenomorph.

A Soviet propaganda style poster showing a worker with a xenomorph on his fork about to put it in his mouth.

Don't worry, someone who I thought was in their 20s or 30s asked me if I was a student not too long ago and I'm 39. (Not that 39 y/os can't be students but I'm pretty sure they meant in an early 20s sense.)

The thing that unpleasantly surprised me in Chicagoland (Arlington Heights mainly) wasn't anything about distance or whatever (although no mixed use is a bit weird) but how it was actively hostile to non-cars. There was a ton of stuff in easy walking or biking distance but it wasn't a real option.

Huh, I either never noticed or totally forgot Grachtenracer existed.

They have a canal racer game?
frenziefrenz.bsky.social
Ha, there I thought everybody knew A2 Racer and Amsterdoom (though I've never played the latter). :-D

Remember Me for example looks *amazing*.

If you play a PS3-era game in 4k with all the settings maxed out (typically best done or only possible with the PC version) it doesn't even tend to look old unless you walk up too closely to some lower res texture. Also you run into annoying minor things like scopes or subs becoming minuscule.

I'm 39 and I think HL2 is retro af with its ragdolls etc. ;-)

(It probably doesn't help that I've seen it as a glorified tech demo ever since 2004.)

"Dude. A.I. is inevitable. Get over it."

1. No it isn't.

2. Even if it were? I'd still say "Fuck A.I." and refuse to interact with it. I will lock myself off to modern media in a heartbeat if it becomes truly unsvoidable. I have YEARS of shit to catch up on.

3. Grow a fucking backbone.

That is, I don't even see how 200k extra per year would improve my life really, *except* with regard to having a significantly larger buffer for unforeseen circumstances.

I suppose I could stay at hyperexpensive hotels or something in order to spend more money, but /shrug
frenziefrenz.bsky.social
That ignores that if the 200k were to stop coming for any reason you might still be in trouble within a few years.

But as far as OP goes I'm already there at 40-50k (depending on €/$ rate :-P). I don't have to think about money anymore and most of it is going into savings/investment at this point.

That explains how I never noticed, lol.
