Disagree that shoving chatbots down consumers' throats will spur much innovation or that much innovation is needed for a clean energy buildout. Chatbots displacing clean energy as the hottest investment is on its face an indication that the incentive structures don't benefit society at large.

There's already going to be increased electrical demand for EVs and heating electrification, I'd like to see that 'evened out' before anything else. The bottom line is that 'AI' only exacerbates the climate and inequality problems, and for no societal benefit I can discern.

It's going to be a long time until the UK grid has a day running on solar, unfortunately. Plus it may make more sense to import from Spain or Morocco than to install that much solar in the UK.

I'm still on FB. (I try to post more than consume content, especially now, but I still follow some people.) For a few years I pretty diligently hid, blocked, and clicked 'not interested' on a lot of content, and it seems to have had an effect. If you use it passively, it's a total lost cause.
