Using gen ai for text and asset placeholders is not solving a problem; games have been made for decades with regular placeholders. studios using AI this way are just testing the water to see what more they can get away with - which will inevitably mean laying off skilled workers, to make worse games

I think this is so interesting. "You can't afford to not try things, because if somebody finds the golden egg and you're not using it, you're dead in this industry." This is what's actually behind the constant tech hype cycles. Everyone's selling FOMO to every industry's biggest dipshits.

Using genAI for concept art is so fucking stupid because like... that's where you get the cool shit. Thats the blue sky phase where artists make pieces of art that will be seen by a teenager later and change their life forever. Why would you want to start from mediocre. Why would you do that.
