If you get flamed on Twitter, it's going to be by right wing bluechecks and it's going to all sound like bottalk. That's easier to shove aside and see it as just part of the noise of the platform.

If you get flamed on Bluesky, it's artisanal and coming from multiple quarters.

Bluesky doesn’t have a central algorithm that’s forced on everybody, and allows users to create their own feeds.

I think that is the *only* ethical model for social media going forward:

Algorithms do widen the divide: Social media feeds shape political polarization
A study shows that the order in which platforms like X display content to their users affects their animosity towards other ideological groups

It would be awesome if we could stop re-inventing every awful thing from the past, unlearning every brutal lesson, dismantling every hard-won solution

This is alarming, as @nature has one of the best statements on gen AI I’ve ever seen.

won't have em for this weekend, but i've been getting a few more people at my table than I'd like lately asking *very pointedly* if i drew everything myself, so i designed a new sticker this afternoon that will hopefully quell some of those concerns.

I'm an "A.i." abolitionist.

No consumer-facing LLMs or generative "A.i." in anything.

Sure, machine learning in science and a few other limited applications is fine.

But consumer-facing LLMs and generative "A.i." that are based on theft, push disinfo, and can be manipulated by billionaires?

No.

Tired of all the slop? I built a browser extension called Slop Evader that only returns search results from before Nov 30, 2022 - the pre-ChatGPT internet. Sure, the info is a couple years old, but at least you know a human wrote it :) chromewebstore.google.com/detail/slop-...

this is just one step that ultimate leads to "well, the AI bubble has burst, and now these companies need a massive government bailout of billions of dollars"
James Bond supervillains threaten to blow up the world with their big laser unless you pay them a trillion dollars.

Real American supervillains embed themselves in the economy and threaten to cause a depression unless you subsidize their sex robots and the weird chatbots they use to avoid humans.

The Little Bee-eater is the smallest of the African bee-eaters, growing only 15-17cm long. They are incredibly common, with an estimated 60-80mil individuals across Sub-Saharan Africa. As their name suggests, they feed on insects, primarily bees, wasps, and hornets.

People who are ‘AI’ boosters and whine about ‘anti-AI’ sentiment bewilder me. You have Twitter and LinkedIn; you have politicians and journalists on your side; businesses are all pro-AI.
What exactly do you want?
Yall behave like it’s literal sacrilege to be critical of AI

Glendon’s Feed is so thoughtfully curated and I love it so much. It’s also something I scan at least three times a week for new artists to include on @womensart2.bsky.social .

It’s a keeper.
