Big part of what happened was a conflation of bigotry with authenticity, people refused to believe anyone could genuinely care about people outside of their immediate sphere of concern.
we all got cowed into avoiding "virtue signaling" as if the public affirmation of socially agreed upon ethical principles was somehow cringey instead of a significant part of what a "society" even is. now all there's left is vice signaling, and it's reshaping society.

Anyone else prefer watching videos in their original format that aren't doing it for nostalgic reasons?
I'll buy the blu-ray over the dvd/vhs if it was originally filmed that way, but I can't stand "remasters" that achieve hd by zooming in and cropping the top and bottom.
