This looks amazing and frankly, I'm trying to figure out how you offered some much stuff in just 24 pages!

Inspired by the Fred Armisen album:

The sound of eye-rolling when a player has all 18's for stats

The sigh when players cancel

Not sure if the above completely connects with what you offered, but I agree that Bronze Age interests me — just not enough to start a full campaign. Would the classic Sword and Sorcery scratch the same itch? Not sure.

I always thought I'd like my game world to have Eras or Eons. The Era of Beats is Stone Age and mega fauna, the Era of Giants is Bronze Age, etc.

This might allow for PCs to jump to an era for a different feel/genre or let players play out campaigns that help shape the future eras.

Vulture capitalism, power-hungry, irresponsible capitalism...

Adirondark takes place during the Gilded Age. When robber barons are trying to get all the timber, coal, and resources for themselves. Going deeper and deeper into the Great Forest of NY puts people into contact with these Powers...
flamingbraingames.bsky.social
The other Powers might be considered supernatural. But The Dark is better described as anti-natural. Those Oddities bring insanity and corruption beyond anything you can imagine.
flamingbraingames.bsky.social
The Powers always exact a price from us mortals. The Green might give us power but it would rather we become fertilizer for plants. The Red is blood and animals, so we may become more savage. The Gray is stone, earth, weather.. it is inorganic.

But The Dark? That is the antithesis of Nature.

I always loved Dark Sun's take on magic defiling the world. Pretty much to break the natural order, you... break the natural order.

In my wilderness survival horror game there are Oddities. These items usually give some sort of trade-off. There is always a price.

Public Access has become one of my all-time favorite TTRPGs. Not just because of the tight gameplay, weaponized-nostalgia, or horror; but because of the incredible community over at The Gauntlet I've found myself a part of for the last 3 years.

Get. This. Game. You will not regret it.

Considering self-publishing TTRPG adventures as 12 or 16 page zines.

Cover (with information on insides)
One page intro
Double-page spreads for each encounter
Some tables for randomized inspiration

First character:
Gnome warlock
High Cha and Int, low Str

Artisan background: jeweler (gem cutter) or cook (comfort food), then woodcarver (making pipes), tinker, leatherworker.

Uses his pipe as an arcane focus and has an unseen servant.

Making some 2025 D&D characters for vibes, plus a chance to get to know the system (I played Pathfinder 1E for more than a decade).

Posting here and hopefully it inspires you to create something interesting as well!

A great idea! And what better way to create the dishes and comfort foods of your characters than with our 4d12 Menu generator! It's more of a random table to farm thing...

For me, after years of playing D&D, it was Battlelords of the 23rd Century.

For tons of folks, there was that -one- game that blew the doors open and showed what #TTRPGs could be. The one that started the #IndieGame rabbit hole.

What was YOUR "gateway" indie #TTRPG? The first one that made you realize a whole other world was out there?

Added bonus, if y'all meet in person: cook comfort food for everyone, and if possible, try and make what your characters are having.

Stew, bread, and cheese are one of my favorites.

That project that "failed"? Someone out there needed exactly that thing and found it meaningful, even if the numbers don't show it. Impact isn't always measurable in downloads or engagement. Sometimes it's just one person saying "this helped."

RPG tip from the archive: You can always steal NPC ideas from your favorite book, movie, or TV characters.

I've always imagined putting my stuff together in little zines but have yet to get to the spreadsheet cost analysis phase. I'm interested to hear your ideas re: the various zines you get.

The Green is the power of plants and fungi... what might happen when The Green grows too powerful?
