If this was purely a stock market bubble, I would agree, but this bubble has been created via direct investment in a company. And as the article points out there doesn't seem to be an obvious path to recouping their investments.

Without being all boring about it, but surely the investors should have a fiduciary duty to their company / shareholders, not to blow a multi-billion dollar hole in their budget, no?

The other consideration, not covered off in the article - there is a very real possibility that the cost to run / host an LLM could significantly reduce by 2030, which would be a good thing, but equally could leave the likes of Open AI having invested way too much in hosting infrastructure.

Sam Altman may be a little too young to remember the dot com bubble, but surely enough of the investors should have enough grey to recall that bubble, yet doing nothing to show they have learned anything.
