In college, I had to read the Department of Defense’s Law of War manual.

I kid you not when I tell you that firing at the shipwrecked is quite literally provided as an example of an illegal order.

If this is true* then the pentagon should be hard at work finding out who ordered this war crime so they can be brought before a court martial.
_____

* it isn’t true.
President Trump said Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth denied giving an order to kill all members on a boat suspected of smuggling drugs.

Trump also said he wouldn't have wanted a second strike, which occurred after survivors were found, The Post reported.

It’s frightening that enough people believe these lies (thanks, all mainstream news organizations) that this race is potentially a republican win.
Matt Van Epps is speaking: Says Rep. Aftyn Behn "wants transgender surgery for minors without parental consent." (Editorial note: I am not aware she has said something like that, and it would be illegal to provide surgery without parental consent."

In a country where newspapers are almost-universally Trump lickspittles and toadies this @aftynbehn.bsky.social semi-endorsement from The Onion is the height of courage.
Tennessee people, vote for this lady this week. She's cool and she puts the country perilously close to having a single check and/or balance.

a military strike on unarmed civilians is murder and a war crime
This is a lot of words to say, “Yikes! That Washington Post story about us illegally killing survivors on the open seas was 100% correct!”

So if the fishing boats in the Caribbean had some sort of connection to pay a massive bribe they’d be fine, instead of murdered as a war crime.
WHOA. Trump says he will pardon Juan Orlando Hernandez, who once said that he wanted to “shove the drugs right up the noses of the gringos.” He had people killed as part of his narco-trafficking ring, which he at times operated directly out of his presidential office.

The DC shooting story is really getting to me because we literally trained this man as a child soldier for a death squad in a forever war and Stephen Miller et al want to blame it on other cultures? It's our culture, American culture, that killed that woman.

Lol Matt Van Epps was part of the $8 million graft purchase of those pesticide-laden sock masks (which had visible holes, for those of you who don’t live here). Incredible shit.

I was in a panaderia in Birmingham yesterday and saw the perfect metaphor for Stephen Miller sitting on the shelf, then I isolated it so it could be turned into a sticker.

So the “we’re gonna stop processing Afghan refugees” isn’t a result of the DC shooting, it dropped (at a minimum) the day before it happened.
The folks at @afghanevac.bsky.social have in hand a new USCIS directive which largely targets Afghan refugees who fled the Taliban in the wake of the U.S. withdrawal in 2021.

In case you needed a reminder that the most loathsome people in the world work for DHS.

If you’re in TN-07 and were sitting this out because “it’s too gerrymandered to win,” it could be just a few votes that makes a difference between @aftynbehn.bsky.social winning this race or Matt Van Epps raising healthcare costs and sending folks to prison camps.

Last day of early voting today!
The chances of flipping this republican district have grown significantly! This is a formerly +22 republican district yet the race is crazy tight in terms of polling, just 2 points! That’s right this race has come down to just 2 points, get out there and vote today! Let’s Flip This Seat!

One of the many reasons to not procreate with republicans is that they’ll try to have you imprisoned if things don’t work out and the custody battle gets difficult.
“After Ferreira was detained, Dos Santos Rodrigues said Michael Leavitt Sr. and his father, Bob Leavitt, reached out to her.”

If he doesn’t get his way he’s gonna leave it as rubble for the next president to take care of. Just like the economy, and the US position as a world power.
Exclusive: President Trump has argued with the architect he handpicked to design a White House ballroom over the size of the project, reflecting a conflict between architectural norms and Trump’s grandiose aesthetic.
Trump wants a bigger White House ballroom. His architect disagrees.
The president and James McCrery had argued in recent weeks over the project’s size, with Trump pushing him to expand the ballroom.
