But if you tell me you love my voice, because it sounds so natural and femme unlike yours, which you hate... I'm going to want to exit the conversation as swiftly and quietly as possible, because I did not sign up to be placed on a pedestal, let alone to be a weapon you use to beat yourself with.

If you tell me I have a nice voice, I'm going to be touched! If you tell me I have a "passing" voice, I'm going to be uncomfortable (passing is something other people do to you, not an innate quality you possess). If you tell me you envy my voice, that feels a little weird.

I am deeply uncomfortable when people compliment me by putting themselves down, yeah. This has happened a lot around voice stuff especially, when coming from other trans fems. My natural range is similar to my mother's, and I've never bothered with voice training because of it.
