This.
"Simply put, the agreement elevates Alberta to a quasi-sovereign actor to be treated as an equal with Canada, while BC, site of any future hypothetical pipeline terminus, is not part of the framework discussion at all."

MOU Problems
While intended to heal the rift in Canadian unity, the agreement between federal and Alberta provincial governments risks leaving the country even more divided

Some thoughts for those who are saying #Carney is playing chess and we all need to relax, the pipeline isn't actually going to be built...

Danielle Smith and her government are attempting to bring Trumpian, deeply conservative values and policies to Alberta at every turn.

In full support of these nations and their commitment to fight future pipelines and increased tank traffic. ✊
Coastal First Nations have released a statement reasserting their commitment to keep oil tankers off the north coast.

First Nations and B.C. must have a seat at the table, not be cut out of pipeline and tanker ban discussions by Alberta and the federal gov.

Coastal First Nations remain committed to keeping oil tankers out of coastal waters across Haida Gwaii and BC’s North Coast.

These are wildly high numbers for a "ceasefire" and in any other place would not be tolerated, but somehow the world continues to give Israel a pass....
On Nov. 22, Israeli strikes killed more than 20 people and injured over 80 in #Gaza, according to the Ministry of Health. Since Oct. 11, over 339 Palestinians have been killed and more than 870 been injured.

Despite the ceasefire, we are still treating injured people in Gaza.

It's honestly mind blowing how many of the Indigenous icons of past generations have turned out to be.... not Indigenous.

So much has already been written/unpacked but...

I am grateful that there are new generations of Indigenous leaders who are accountable and connected to actual communities.

"Winning justice for Palestinians—and the enduring security that Jewish Israelis claim to want—will require reckoning with this entrenched national ethos of denial. Until we are finally willing to remember the horrors we’ve already wrought, there will surely be more to come."

It's rare for a police officer in Canada to be criminally charged for shooting someone, and then to plead guilty

Andrew Davis shot Devon Fowlin in 2023 and pleaded guilty. He was sentenced on Friday: no jail time and one year of probation

Expert tells court police should have used de-escalation in February 2023 incident. Because of his sentence, Const. Andrew Davis will have a chance to keep his job.

That the NP continues to give Flanagan air time should indicate their quality is on par with Fox News, Rebel News, and the like. They cannot be taken as a serious news publication.
Shit like this should be treated the same way Holocaust denial is.

11 years ago today, 12 year old Tamir Rice was gunned down by police officers on Cleveland’s west side.

The officer shot him within seconds of arriving at the park he was playing in.

Tamir’s life mattered. It still does. My thoughts are with his family today.

This man (and the regime he is part of) is gross on so many levels:

1) He continues the rhetoric that diversity and immigration are to blame for everything under the sun, with zero facts to back it up (it's not true)

On this Trans Day of Remembrance, I particularly want to stress that the violence we talk about trans people experiencing isn't just murder or domestic abuse or assault.

There is also legislative violence—far too much of it. And we lose lives to that every year too.
The Alberta government putting out a statement for Trans Day of Remembrance two days after using the Notwithstanding Clause to override trans kids rights feels like parody at this point

"Our government remains a dedicated partner of transgender Albertans.”

In 1930s/40s Nazi propaganda, behind every 'bad' thing (homosexuality, economics, Communism, decline of Germany, foreign interference, etc) was the Jew.

It's been replaced with "the criminal illegal" but if we cannot see the connection and take action, we have failed the call for 'never again'.
this defies parody. also helps explain why Sec Bessent bizarrely blamed immigrants when confronted with a question about high beef prices
