That (NPR!) journalists think AI is a creative engine that can finesse iconic productions is not just context for the crap quality of writing in media but alarmingly the inability among a class of supposedly professional scrutinizers to distinguish between art and slop, good and bad, truth and lie
David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
I will say, that I’ve been getting those kinds of emails since c. 2009! Long before genAI was on the scene. Back then, I assumed that someone was actually writing the copy!
It’s pretty much this, but of course satire and reality are now a perfect circle. @bencollins.bsky.social knows…

Jacobs must resign as chair of the NY Dem party if he cannot support what Dem voters have chosen. He should resign today, or continue to do very serious damage to the party.

New York Democratic Chairman Won’t Endorse Mamdani for Mayor

50€ entry fee aka “fundraising” 🙈
My man Mamdani is a grade A memer.
Reminds me of how MAGA Haberman calls everything Trump does “remarkable.”
Landlords can just run out the clock on tenants often if the tenants and the landlord are at odds—they just don’t file lease and then go “renovate” the apartment again after the tenants are gone.
If politics weren’t so abysmally vapid, there would be larger discussions around how landlords basically have no consequences for these shenanigans because of how the rules work for evaluating stabilization claims and getting rent paid back through the nyshcr.
Beyond that, I’ve also had landlords try to trick me into signing destabilized leases after signing a stabilized lease.
Like others have commented, I’ve lived in an apartment that was stabilized and the landlord did not give us the rider because they were trying to illegally destabilize it. I only learned that the unit should have been stabilized from longtime tenants of the building.
Cuomo says Mamdani's claim that he didn't know his apartment was rent-stabilized when he moved in is "implausible to me."

My goto is to ask LLMs how many states have R in their name. They always fail. GPT 5 included Indiana, Illinois, and Texas in its list. It then asked me if I wanted an alphabetical highlighted map. Sure, why not.

The annoying spam texts destroying the Democratic brand:

$678M raised through those spam tactics

$282M to one consulting firm: Mothership Strategies.

$11M to actual campaigns (1.6%)

The party isn’t just treating donors like marks—it’s being fleeced itself yet continues to back Mothership.

How a single consulting firm extracted $282 million from a network of spam PACs while delivering just $11 million to actual campaigns.

Apropos of nothing, here's a thread about the process of editing an essay collection I wrote when the book Postpolitics and the Aesthetic Imagination (www.upress.umn.edu/9781517919184/postpolitics-and-the-aesthetic-imagination) was about to come out: bsky.app/profile/diss...
Just heard the #kygo remix of #tinaturner’s “What’s Love”—nothing can be new 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 fml
In fact, the logics of it are insidious. Do we write off all folks who cannot work?
@kyla.bsky.social I think this definition of what being human is is contested 🤨
