EVEN I FEEL ODD just stating this because thats all it is, a statement, but again its important to remember were creating a cultural atmosphere. words cultivate culture. so my words are this: prove love. dismantle ice. tromp is an authoritarian fascist and if you support him what does that make you?

Maybe party decisions should not be made to suit the personal ambitions of a guy who had a chance to return to parliament two years ago but chose not to and has suddenly changed his mind now the top job is in play? Maybe that guy isn’t worth spending £££ and risking a major by-election over?

I keep seeing people on the left talking as if Reform are a shoo-in for the next government, and I beg you, please don't do that. If we on the left talk about them as if their victory is inevitable, it will become inevitable. Every time we talk about a Reform government, we legitimise that idea...

I see that the "Labour needs a left wing Trump" trope has hit the Guardian.

Gift link to this detailed, harrowing breakdown of the Minneapolis shooting, including a synchronous analysis demonstrating that a video circulated as evidence that the ICE officer was "run over" does not in fact show that: www.nytimes.com/video/us/100...
Video: Videos Contradict Trump Administration Account of ICE Shooting in Minneapolis
An analysis of footage from three camera angles shows that the motorist was driving away from — not toward — a federal officer when he opened fire.

You have to admit though, Farage's 'I'm an open racist who spouts hate for his own country while taking backhanders from grifters, foreign agitators and a child porn producer' strategy has worked wonders for him so far.

I'd like to think 2026 is the year populism falls apart in both Britain and America.

Over here, there are early signs that the process of populist radicalisation (and ever greater stupidity) is becoming too much for some of them and lines are being drawn.

Nigel Farage said that the 'Raise the Colours' campaign was a "grassroots movement driven by ordinary people”.

Kemi Badenoch said they should be "welcomed" as a symbol of "unity"

Now the campaign has pivoted to racially abusing migrants and intimidating charity workers on the beaches of France

Shocked by the awful death of Rob Reiner. I spoke with him for over an hour last night. We talked about his work and his plans for the future. I always enjoyed his company. We met at his Dad's in 1975. Last thing he said to me was "See you next year.." Such a terrible end. Such a sweet man.

There has been a strong reaction to the antisemitism allegations levelled at Nigel Farage - except from those you might have expected to condemn it most loudly. My piece for @jewishnews.bsky.social on a strange silence

I quit a large multinational as my manager was terrible. He gave me a rush project in my last fortnight, so I decided to write in in FORTRAN 77 (an approved language at the time). No-one else in our team knew it, so it had to be rewritten delaying the project. Boss got no bonus.
