STOP: using xenoblade graphics as a gotcha against gamefreak (yes the wii xc1 comparisons are funny but it’s overdone)

START: talking about how Z-A doesn’t have a special theme that kicks in whenever you mega evolve, overwriting all of the other great battle themes in the game
There'll be ample time to talk about that, though.

For now, this is the end of Part I and White Clouds. I'll take a bit of a break to focus on exams and will resume whenever I have time.

In the meantime, have one of the most blood-curling screams I've heard in recent memory
-battle of the game. And in some ways, I kind of wish it was. Starting from here, there's a noticable drop in the game; mainly concerning the story and the monastery. In some routes it's more pronounced than others, but it's present in every one of them.
I meant it when I said I went into this game blind all those years ago. So blind, in fact, that I straight up didn't know that there was a timeskip or a part 2.
I was also very stupid back then, but that's besides the point.
Completely unassuming as I was, I genuinely believed THIS was the final-
Character-wise, it also conveys the tragedy of the unfolding struggle. No matter what route you're on, this battle signifies a personal loss for Byleth, Rhea and your lord.
Dimitri completely loses his grip on reality, Claude sees his ambitions squandered, and Edelgard kickstarts an entire war.
There's a raw despair and sorrow present in this song that just makes everything work. It sells the tragedy and futility of it all.
The single largest army in the continent is storming your tiny little academy and all you can do is try to hold them off, only to be kicked out anyway.
And of course, chapter 12 wouldn't be what it is without the stellar backing track.
"Roar of Dominion" is frankly one of the best battle themes I've heard in gaming.
There's only one word that comes to mind to describe it, and that is *apocalyptic.*

And then, there's the fact that this is a "defeat enemy commander" map. I understand why they did it like this, but when Edelgard just decides to rush downwards you just have no choice but to defeat her and end the map early, which is unfortunate because I really do enjoy what this battle offers.
My only complaints would be two. First, it would be that Dimitri and Claude are shown to be fighting in the cutscene after the battle, but in gameplay they're nowhere to be seen. It would have been so nice to actually have them present during the battle.
And if for some reason you didn't recruit them during your playthrough, the generic green units will be replaced by familiar faces such as Manuela and Hanneman fighting by your side!
It really adds to the scale of it all. You feel the unimaginable size and might that Edelgard brings with her army.
You are overwhelmed with reinforcements, Demonic Beasts, long-range weapons, gambits left and right, THE DEATH KNIGHT...

You are drowning in enemies and progress will be slow and grueling — but possible. There's a reason why the game throws ~10 allied green units at you to give you a hand.
What is there to dislike?
It is an anxiety-inducing map where you start out all but cornered at the very bottom while the enemy takes up the entire rest of the territory. It feels like there are a thousand enemies focusing solely on you, and any one of them alone can absolutely kill your units.
It's not perfect; we are talking about Three Houses after all. But it genuinely is the single best stretch of content that reaches a height that the game won't really be able to recapture until the final battle in some routes, and others just straight up don't.
I've made it no secret that I find White Clouds to easily be the best section of Three Houses when it comes to story and a large chunk of the gameplay.

As such, it should come as no surprise when I say chapter 12 — the climax of White Clouds as a whole — is in many ways where the game peaks.

-viewpoint the game offers through its mostly wealthy and noble cast and see why things have escalated to the point they have, Edelgard's personal trauma and mole people shenanigans notwithstanding
I'm not saying by any means Edelgard's war is a net positive, she is absolutely ruining entire livelihoods belonging to the commonfolk she claims to be fighting for and will ultimately cause more harm than good in most outcomes.

But it's an interesting exercise to step away from the limited-
And so when war hits, you feel bad for them because their desired lives are getting cut short. But then you think about the common people whom this war is for, who can't even dream of having a desired life because the system in Fódlan is beyond broken; and suddenly you reconsider things.
Your own protagonist despite being painted as a no-name commoner is the daughter of the most prestigious knight in recent memory and anime virgin mary. She has god inside of her head and she has all eyes on her.

Three Houses' cast is, in its majority, one of privilege and luxury.
And yet just like in real life, this is but one side of the coin.
Because the truth is that Three Houses very deliberately only shows you a very specific viewpoint: That of the privileged elite. You are surrounded by spoiled nobles that will never experience most struggles the common man will
