💯 this.
This shit is just planned out and orchestrated out in public. Her mother is a fucking conservative podcast host and lawyer, this isn't some kinda quirk or accident, this paper was written with the express purpose to gin up another culture war about trans people in academia and it's working.
a lot of people debating the merits of that dogshit essay meanwhile the girl’s mom is retweeting demands to ban all trans people from teaching at any level. it’s forest for the trees shit

Donald Pleasance appeared in like 200 movies in his career. Sure, not all of them are amazing but it’s a tremendous cache to have access to as you while away the time hoping for rescue.
First serious answer I landed on is Julianne Moore
This is a Bill Simmons game, but you’re stranded on a desert island. You can only have one actor’s filmography. You get it all, including cameos. But just the one performer.

I’m taking Cate Blanchett: Talented Mr. Ripley, LOTR, Life Aquatic, Black Bag, Tár, Ponyo, Hot Fuzz, Eyes Wide Shut, Thor

What your patronage means to an indie press:

If you have a Tenebrous shelf, you are our patron saint. Your emails will always be answered.

If you have the entire collection? I will answer the phone as your alibi and/or former employer. You were with me the whole time & you did an *amazing* job.
One of our rad Cultists just emailed a pic of their updated centerpiece bookshelf & y’all: I am continually humbled that this thing that Alex & I started 5 years ago inspires such loyalty & passion.

Forget the holiday: every day of the year, we’re thankful for you🖤☠️

My annual tradition is watching LOTR extended cuts on thanksgiving. I’ve always gotten choked up at the end but now so much of my connection to the films is wrapped up in 2 close friends who passed and now I’m just crying on and off throughout the whole damn thing.

Give me a themed collection like this any day of the week. Bummed I have to wait until 2027 for this thing. Really exciting stuff @michaelboulerice.bsky.social - congratulations on the announcement!
DEAL ANNOUNCEMENT: It's gonna be a weird one, folks. Deeply personal, very grim. This themed collection is me strapped to a chair with an IV full of sodium pentathol as administered by @alexwoodroe.com (who was kind enough to write a foreword). If you've ever wanted The Boulerice Buffet, this is it

For real this easily lands in the top three books I've read over the last ten years. Get it by any means necessary
The Night Ship is fishing up some happy netgalley reviews. Someone called it fun, and Publisher's Weekly called it an "unsettling and immersive sci-fi thriller", and that is everything I wanted.

It's still on the 'galley, but if that's not your jam let me know!

My last full day of work this week and i guess i must be excited because Ive been awake since 2am. Gonna crawl across that finish line.
Also, Welcome to Derry sets a bar for dumbest king adaptation and then every week manages to raise that bar higher. And yet i cannot look away.

Home Alone makes changes to the Die Hard formula that render it hard for me to enjoy. The McClain character should feel overawed. And in theory having Kevin be a child versus adults achieves that. But the thing is: Kevin is a god. It's not just Tom & Jerry. This is some random punks versus Anansi.

This MTG heel turn thing has me torn between the idea that all the liberals slobbering at the redemption arc are bots and right wing ops and the idea that a lot of liberals are just that stupid and as much as I would prefer the former, evidence strongly leans toward the latter.

Im hoping more people are waking up to the fact that for decades we’ve been held hostage by crybaby liberals who are willing to sacrifice anyone to preserve their comfort and will elect trash as long as the trash does enough performative pillow talk that they can believe they’re fundamentally good
If you'd rather bigots hold trans people's lives hostage instead of trans people hold the comfort of bigots hostage, well OK, that's your calculus, you get to make your choices in democracy—but own your choice. Admit it. Stand on your business. Go curry the favor of bigots and own the results.

As an NP, i wonder to what extent this is part of the larger war on university education because throttling loan availability is going to push more people away from brick and mortar graduate programs into online for profit schools.
The Department of Education is proposing a definition that could strip nurse practitioners and CRNAs of “professional degree” status.

Chiropractors keep it. Nurses risk losing it. And that change would fall hardest on women in healthcare.

This is political and it is sexist.

If you have astigmatism, driving at night is truly an adrenaline sport these days
It is genuinely insane how bright and distracting car lights are now
I wish we, like, regulated shit nowadays. Between car bloat, blinding headlines, and neighbourhoods packed with rental suites but no on-property parking, driving is an absolute nightmare now.
