You're writing this down right? Good. As I was saying my car sucked so bad my wife left me. Yes I can spell my name for you.

12yo was fretting this morning about a school bathroom that was closed because of obscene graffiti. I sat him right down to watch American Vandal S1 (Netflix 2017), and within first 2 eps he went from dismayed order muppet to "graffiti has nuance" and "DYLAN. IS. INNOCENT."

Perfect show, no notes

Belatedly reading about this and as always really important to remind people in *every breath* that when the right talks about “woke” and “DEI” they are talking about the cultural and political wins of the civil rights movement. This arrangement existed for 52 years because of historical activism.

Chiiiiiiile can NC taxpayers sue the UNC board for for violating their fiduciary responsibilities?
Screenshot of the article that reads: But those claims have been undercut by a slew of reporting suggesting otherwise. According to NFL writer Ollie Connolly, who broke many of the details of Belichick’s initial hiring at North Carolina in December, the coach has already discussed buyout options from his contract with the athletic administration.

“Belichick has signalled a willingness to trigger his own $1 million buyout if he can find a soft landing with another team or in media,” Connolly posted Wednesday afternoon.

Part of this hierarchy has been created over decades by labor market economic stuff but universities embrace it so they can hire fewer profs overall and more Deans of ChatGPT Strategery 🙄🤮 It's also a deliberate political strategy to tighten up exactly who gets to have "academic freedom."

they don’t want you to know how they treat prisoners because it will grieve you to know it, which is natural and human, and because of your normal human reaction you will want the system changed. It’s important to them that your natural aversion to how the system works not be engaged.

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.
I made a vinyl sticker bonus question for my #Dante midterm. Everyone got it right and now there are 70 stickers floating around campus marking our community 👹👹🥹
An oval-shaped vinyl sticker with a dark purple background and two cartoon labubu characters. The left monster is red with lavender face and hands. His bunny ears droop forward, he stands pigeon-toed, and his face is crumpled with fright. At right, a pale gray monster with a ghostly white face extends a reassuring hand to the fearful one. He wears a laurel crown and carries a golden book in his other hand. Since designing the sticker I have learned that labubus have 9 teeth, so these monsters with 6 and 8 teeth are technically lafufus. Who are they??

eventually politicians need to start advocating for criminal and civil penalties for people involved in fabricating stories to get citizens incarcerated.

or, put another way: a society that would like to keep functioning has to discourage baldfaced lying, especially by authorities

The Italian edition of my first novel, translated by the wonderful Chiara Buffa, is available later this week, 10/10/25, from NN Editore in Milan. And this cover makes my old teen witch heart glad.

An illustration of a fox dressed in the ribcage of a human, the eyes white with death or transfiguration, surrounded by red and blue-green leaves. The image has a large San serif bold N superimposed, with the image clear inside the letter and faintly colored by a rust orange fade otherwise, the trademark of the house, NN Editore.

The text in white reads ALEXANDER CHEE

Manuscript illustration of a long-haired woman arguing in court that as long as she has satisfied her husband’s sexual needs, and the feeble chump sitting in the hot seat testifies that indeed she has, she has every right to do what she pleases with her surplus of sexual capacity. The woman is hot and many people have gathered to see if she’ll get away with adultery. Boccaccio’s Decameron 6.7, BnF Ms. It. 63, f. 202r.
