"...a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is fascism — ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power."

Wait, is this the Professor Watchlist, but for media … and instead of being posted on an independent group’s website it’s on the official website of the people who control armed men with badges and a distinct disregard for the Constitution?

In 2022, Biden earmarked billions of dollars to help former coal communities. It was the largest investment in Appalachia since LBJ's 1960s’ war on poverty.

But Trump won West Virginia 70% to 28% in 2024. And now he's taking away the funding Biden gave them.

When are they going to learn?

There is a pretty recent history, though it feels like a long time ago, of bipartisan opposition to war crimes from congressional oversight committees making a real difference in ending them. I didn’t think it was a real possibility anymore and would be very happy and relieved to be proved wrong

It seems worth noting that, given what he's ordered, Hegseth's freedom long-term almost certainly depends on staying in Trump's good graces enough to swing an end-of-administration pardon.

So he is likely to cling *very hard* to the job to avoid being pushed out before the end.
Hoo boy

Whole buncha folks about to have to face a choice between complying with a Congressional subpoena and getting fired because pete's mad at them

Also if anything is a "start the clock" moment on pete's tenure coming to an end, it's this
There are now bipartisan investigations in both the House and Senate into the administration targeting and killing people in the Caribbean without due process.

#DOGE isn't "fixing" the government, it is dismantling it.

#Trump isn't "helping" Americans, he is retaliating against them.

#PamBondi isn't "upholding" the Constitution, she is ignoring it.
