If you are trying to file your taxes today and you're worried you are missing a document, go to your Document Tab in your IRS Tax Account. It should have everything (but it won't have state withholding!) If you don't have an IRS account, having one is a decent idea.
Screenshot of the IRS account. On the bottom right, under Records and Statuses Information Return Documents are hightlighted. This is to go for the next step.

the burn

i personally don't love the Lestat but thats me. Tom Cruise's was good enough for a while and now we have Sam Reid, who is much better (and a million times better Louis with Jacob Anderson)
I keep thinking about how ahistorical the US is becoming and how that relates to historical romance being sidelined. Esp as historical romance was starting to make more space for writers of color. Suddenly trad pub decided it wasn't worth it anymore!
For real! The soundtrack was killer but the rest of the film was pretty awful. It didn't know what it wanted to be, but Aaliyah understood Akasha.

8)	Background is a photo of a snowy trees. Cover of a book called Bells Begin to Ring depicting a man kneeling and hunched forward in a posture conveying pain on a sandy beach at night, by MC Burnell. Text reads: DRUMS IN THE DEEP. Bells Begin to Ring, The Tipping World Vol. 8. All the world’s mages dance on the bitter scapegoat’s strings. A block of text: "She sat in the strange glow of the wish-lights, pondering questions whose answers couldn’t possibly matter while the world burned. What held her here was what held all of them: a conviction that she had uncovered, in this spooky subterranean space, a connection she had been searching for all her life without ever being able to articulate it. Every other people had a legend telling where they came from. Everyone but mages. Here, at last, a link to the past and the people who created them."

Speaker Mike Johnson just said he's completely fine with ICE agents shooting priests in the head with pepper balls and roughing up journalists.

I'm sure he'll tell us soon about how it's the Democrats who are waging a war on religion and free speech though.
Q: We've seen images out of Chicago of federal agents shooting faith leaders with pepper balls and arresting journalists. Where's the limit for you on what's acceptable conduct by federal agents?

MIKE JOHNSON: I've not seen them cross the line yet.

lastly, a common rebuttal to contaminant reporting is that there are unavoidable levels of lead in lots of foods. some context:

taking just one serving of one of the powders we tested would expose you to 45% more lead than the average american gets from everything they eat/drink in a day combined
ooof scary!
my latest investigation for @consumerreports.org is based on months of reporting and 60+ lab tests of leading protein supplements

we found that most protein powders and shakes have more lead in one serving than our experts say is safe to have in a day (🧵)

ICE is all over the city and burbs today, including Waukegan. Multiple reports on social media from people who have found empty work vans and are trying to locate family of their owners. This is a near daily occurrence now.

Nothing like turning on Pluto TV and seeing Patti LuPone in an old episode of Law & Order (and she's portraying a Gloria Allred type character)

(also when I was younger, watching this at grandma's, I was on the side of the cops/DA. And now I'm the other side. Growing up)

I really hope this man wins.
UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.
bad news for them, the trump admin has made cuts to food banks

BREAKING: Friday night massacre underway at CDC. Doznes of "disease detectives," high-level scientists, entire Washington staff and editors of the MMWR (Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report) have all been RIFed and received the following notice:
oooh jesus christ

what a special kind of white nonsense is this
But you shouldn't be too surprised when they say stuff like this:

"You were better off being a Black person in Charleston, S.C., in 1850, when they had an operating slave market than being conceived as a Black baby in New York City or Baltimore today."
I don’t want to take any guidance at all from the secular society around us. And the reason I don’t is they killed 60 million babies. I don’t want to hear any more lectures from these people about slavery. You were better off being a Black person in Charleston, S.C., in 1850, when they had an operating slave market than being conceived as a Black baby in New York City or Baltimore today.
