Restricting the availability of puberty blockers to trans kids but allowing them for cis kids is a blatant violation of NZBORA (1990) and the Human Rights Act (1993).

This will undoubtedly end up in court - very quickly as the subject of a Judicial Review.

Extremely important discussion of the anti-scientific, bigoted, transphobic government action this week
1/200 S2E173 - Puberty Blocker Ban

We speak with @jennifilm.nz about the ideologically motivated, against all evidence, decision by the National coalition government to effectively ban puberty blockers specifically for trans children.

The AI bubble may be about to bust.

Peter Thiel has sold all of his Nvidia stock.

We all need to say this very clearly:

NO BAILOUTS FOR THEFT-TECH!

Expropriate their asses instead.

They stole from all of us and fully plan to burn the planet.

They owe us - not the other way around. 1/3

Excellent @1of200.bsky.social episode on the Human Rights Review Tribunal case, in which I have played a small part
1/200 S2E170 - Everybody HRRTs

We await a ruling from the Human Rights Review Tribunal in NZ, while Progressive populism, including trans rights, now seems a vote winner in both the UK & US - how is the NZ left positioned?

This racist, coloniser, misogynistic government can get in the sea
An article with one (1) half-thought about why it might be important to require school boards to give effect to Te Tiriti, or any broader context around why the erosion of it might be a high priority for this government.
Propaganda presents information in a one-sided way to persuade an audience.
Govt to remove requirement for school boards to give effect to Treaty of Waitangi
Boards will still need to try to achieve equitable outcomes for Māori.

NZ may be on the cusp of another measles outbreak - what happened in 2019 should be a warning
To stem further spread, we must build on the lessons from New Zealand's last major measles outbreak in 2019.

Generally mild-mannered @clrenney.bsky.social ripping the government a new one 🔥
#nzpol Sometimes a policy is so stupid it makes you question the very fabric of reality. Decisions so fabulously, almost wantonly dumb, you wonder if we actually live in a simulation. Welcome to the world of removing Jobseeker Support for 18 & 19-year-olds. craigrenney.substack.com/p/a-small-wr...
A small wrinkle in the Jobseeker policy
The government’s recent changes to benefits feel like this: the house is on fire, and this policy is them turning off the smoke alarm and saying it’s fixed

I wasn’t holding my breath for a release from Labour about the deliberate targeting of an MP and the deliberate creation of a toxic environment by both media & politicians to the point they received death threats but imo the silence says a lot about who *they* fail to stand up to - and stand up for.
