People should DNF modern authors at the first sign of overt bigotry. Imagine how much better off we'd all be if the grown folks who read Harry Potter stopped at heinous antisemitism in Book 1?

As someone who just had to pause reading Frankenstein to due to some wild Orientalism/Islamophobia, I would appreciate chapter level warnings about bigotry in the text. The literary landmines are all to common in the classics and almost always can be skipped without losing the thread of the story.

I'm grateful for my spouse and the mental health professionals, who helped me recognize these truths. With their help I was able to get a diagnosis, and not quietly accept the hopelessness that seemed doomed to overwhelm me.

-Hard times can make despair feel sane and rational.

-Depression and anxiety will let you function while they suck away your joy.
